Yomi no Tsugai Second Cour Key Visual, PV Released; OP by Masanori Onda, ED by Kei Sugawara

The TV anime Yomi no Tsugai has unveiled a new key visual and main PV ahead of its second cour, which begins airing on July 4, 2026. The second cour’s theme song artists have also been announced: Masanori Onda performs the opening theme “back shot,” and Kei Sugawara performs the ending theme “Kujaku.”

Based on the fantasy manga by Hiromu Arakawa (known for Fullmetal Alchemist), Yomi no Tsugai is serialized in Monthly Shonen Gangan and has surpassed 6 million copies in circulation. The story follows Yuru, a young hunter living in a remote mountain village, who becomes embroiled in a conflict over beings called “Tsugai.”

The new key visual centers on Sayuu as he faces a fierce battle with Iwan, with Yuru in the background drawing a bow and fixing a sharp gaze on the enemy. The image conveys Yuru’s determination and tension as he confronts the approaching threat.

The main PV shows tense scenes of the mysterious man Iwan attacking the eastern village and confronting the elder Yamaha, as well as Kyoka entrusting a mission to Yuru’s childhood friend Danji. New mysterious characters resembling aliens and Danji racing through the lower world with Oshirasama also appear. Yuru’s line “Enemy or ally?” heightens anticipation for the story’s new phase.

The second cour’s opening theme “back shot” was written and composed by Masanori Onda himself. The song thematically explores distrust and hypocrisy lurking behind human facades, complementing Yuru’s pure feelings and the complex human relationships around him. The ending theme “Kujaku” expresses wavering hope and the desperate wish for someone to live. Kei Sugawara’s voice gently yet powerfully closes the story. Comments from both artists have been released.

Artist Comments

Masanori Onda (Opening Theme Artist)

“I was honored to provide the opening theme for Yomi no Tsugai. The new song is titled ‘back shot.’ It’s a track I wrote soberly based on the theme of ‘people’s hidden faces’—the distrust and hypocrisy I’ve felt in my own life. Yuru’s pure heart for those he cares about, and the outsiders who try to exploit it. Who can you trust to live in this world? I hope listeners will experience various emotions while hearing this song alongside this wonderful anime.”

Kei Sugawara (Ending Theme Artist)

“Is it ego, or is it love? That doesn’t matter anymore. I can’t help but pray for the uncertain hope that keeps wavering. I just want you to live. I sang with that complex yet straightforward obsession. Since before I was offered this role, I had been following this beloved work myself, so when I read the letter from Mr. Onda and listened to the song, I felt like I was having a casual ‘Yomi no Tsugai’ discussion while recording. It was truly fun!”
