HUNTER×HUNTER Series Surpasses 100 Million Copies in Circulation; New Chapter Published in Weekly Shonen Jump

The HUNTER×HUNTER manga series has reached a new milestone. With the release of the 39th compiled volume on July 3, 2026, the series’ cumulative circulation has surpassed 100 million copies, including digital editions.

First serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998 (issue 14), the story follows young Gon as he leaves his home to become a Hunter, meeting Leorio, Kurapika, and Killua along the way. Together they overcome numerous trials, and the series’ distinctive characters—such as Hisoka and Kuroro—have captivated readers. Two TV anime adaptations and various game adaptations have further expanded the franchise’s reach.

To celebrate the 100 million copies milestone, a special campaign called “Shibuya HUNTER Street” will take place. Starting June 28 at 18:00, Chairman Netero will perform a live stream of 10,000 “gratitude straight punches” on the official Jump Channel on YouTube. After completing the punches, at midnight on June 29, a special commemorative site will go live. Netero will then announce the Shibuya HUNTER Street campaign, in which over 100 character advertisements will be placed throughout Shibuya.

From 9:00 on June 29, fans can search for these character ads around the city. Scanning the QR codes on the ads will reveal the corresponding characters on a special website’s character list. Even those who cannot visit Shibuya can download special digital content for the characters as they are revealed on the site. The campaign encourages fans to work together to find all 100+ characters.

Additionally, by posting character ads on X (formerly Twitter) with a designated hashtag, or by sharing revealed characters from the special site, participants can enter a lottery. 30 winners will receive special flake stickers.

Furthermore, Weekly Shonen Jump 2026 issue 31 (on sale June 29) will feature the latest chapter of HUNTER×HUNTER. This marks the first new chapter in approximately one and a half years, since the 2025 New Year issue 2 (released December 9, 2024).

In addition, from June 29, a total of 340 chapters will be available for free for a limited time on the manga app Shonen Jump+ and the digital bookstore Zebrack. The free reading schedule is as follows:

  • Hunter Exam arc (No.001–038): June 29 – July 4
  • Heavens Arena arc (No.039–065): July 2 – July 7
  • Yorknew City arc (No.066–119): July 5 – July 10
  • Greed Island arc (No.120–185): July 8 – July 13
  • Chimera Ant arc 1 (No.186–260): July 11 – July 16
  • Chimera Ant arc 2 (No.261–318): July 14 – July 19
  • Election & Alluka arc (No.319–340): July 17 – July 19

With the 100 million copies milestone and the return of new chapters, all eyes are on HUNTER×HUNTER.
