The TV anime adaptation of Himekishi-sama no Himo, winner of the 28th Dengeki Novel Prize Grand Prize, has been confirmed for a January 2027 broadcast. Alongside the announcement, a teaser visual and teaser PV have been unveiled.

Himekishi-sama no Himo is an entertainment novel by Shirogane Tooru with original character designs by Mashima Masaki. It tells the story of Mashuu, a former adventurer who lives as the kept man (himo) of the fallen princess Alwin, and his shadowy exploits in an otherworldly noir setting. The novel won the top Grand Prize out of 4,411 entries in the 28th Dengeki Novel Prize, and the first volume was published by Dengeki Bunko in February 2022. A manga adaptation began in February 2023, with a second part starting in 2025. The series has sold over 200,000 copies (including digital editions).

The teaser visual, drawn by character designer Ishii Hisao, depicts the relationship between the two protagonists—the knight princess Alwin and her kept man Mashuu—connected by a red thread like a thread of fate.
The teaser PV offers a glimpse of the labyrinth city “Gray Neighbor” that serves as the story’s stage, and contrasts the easygoing Mashuu with the earnest and proud Alwin.
Character illustrations and profiles for Mashuu and Alwin have also been released.
Mashuu (voiced by Suwabe Junichi) is a man so weak in a fight that even women and children could beat him. He spends the money Alwin gives him at brothels, making him a true kept man. His only skill is his sharp tongue, earning him the nickname “Wisecrack.” He has a carefree personality, never speaks of his past, and few know his history. However, he is prepared to do anything, no matter how dirty, for Alwin’s sake.

Alwin (voiced by Komatsu Mikako) is the princess of the Makutarodo Kingdom, destroyed by monsters. Now, to restore her kingdom, she leads the adventurer party “Aegis of the War Goddess” as they seek the universal substance “Starlight Crystal” in the labyrinth. Her noble purpose and way of life have earned her the title “Crimson Knight Princess.” She is highly skilled in combat, able to overwhelm multiple ordinary adventurers. For some reason, she keeps Mashuu as her himo. She sometimes gets angry at his womanizing ways, but he always evades her with words and technique.
