New apparel from the TV anime Urusei Yatsura is on the way, and this time Lum takes center stage in a traditional embroidered sukajan design.
Urusei Yatsura is the debut serialized work of manga artist Takahashi Rumiko, a romantic comedy that follows the chaotic daily life of Earth’s “most dangerous” high school student Moroboshi Ataru and the alien “oni-girl” beauty Lum who descends from space. After 40 years since the first TV anime adaptation, a completely new TV anime was produced, with Season 1 airing from October 2022 to March 2023 and Season 2 from January 2024 to June 2024.
The cast features Kamiya Hiroshi as protagonist Ataru and Uesaka Sumire as heroine Lum. Supporting characters are voiced by a stellar lineup: Uchida Maaya as Shinobu, Miyano Mamoru as Mendou Shuutarou, Takagi Wataru as Cherry (Sakurambou), Sawashiro Miyuki as Sakura, Hanazawa Kana as Ran, Konishi Katsuyuki as Rei, and Hayami Saori as Oyuki the snow woman.
Now, a new sukajan-style garment has arrived from the series. Both the front and back are finished with full embroidery, giving it a striking presence. Inspired by traditional sukajan designs, the jacket incorporates an illustration of Lum.
The front design features Lum in a symbolic sukajan-style composition. The jacket is lightweight with no padding, making it easy to move in and suitable for long-season wear. Simply throwing it over a T-shirt or hoodie makes it the centerpiece of any outfit.
The TV anime Urusei Yatsura sukajan-design apparel is scheduled for release in early October 2026.
