An exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the TV anime Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) will take place at Sunshine City Exhibition Hall D in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from August 10 to August 30, 2026. Titled “TV Anime ‘Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu’ 20th Anniversary ‘SOS Exhibition ~The Exhibition of Haruhi Suzumiya Who Greatly Livened Up the World~’,” the event aims to let visitors experience the “Haruhi phenomenon” firsthand.
The series, based on the light novels by Tanigawa Nagaru with illustrations by Itou Noizi, follows the unofficial school club SOS Brigade led by the eccentric Haruhi Suzumiya. The 2006 TV anime became a social phenomenon thanks to its shuffled timeline and the explosive popularity of the ending theme “Hare Hare Yukai” dance, which spread widely via the internet.
The exhibition is organized by Joint Printing, fave, and CRAZY BUMP. It will be divided into two main sections. The “Memories of Haruhi Suzumiya” area will feature rare setting materials and photo spots including a recreation of the SOS Brigade clubroom, allowing visitors to revisit key moments from the story. The “Phenomenon of Haruhi Suzumiya” section will explore the series’ impact on modern culture from multiple angles.
Original goods featuring newly drawn illustrations will be sold at the venue, along with a guidebook covering the exhibition content. Admission bonuses will be distributed in two periods: from August 10 to 20, attendees receive an “SNS-style clear card” (6 types, random), and from August 21 to 30, a “Tanabata tag-style bookmark” (10 types, random). Purchase bonuses include “Photogray-style cards” — 12 types from Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu during the first period, and 12 types from Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya) during the second period. All bonuses are available while supplies last.
A limited-edition “Brigade Leader Armband” (団長腕章) will be available with a separate exchange ticket priced at 2,000 yen. The exchange ticket can only be purchased together with an admission ticket and is limited in quantity.
Ticket prices are 2,500 yen for both timed-entry tickets and weekday tickets. Note that timed-entry tickets are required for the first day (August 10) and all weekends and holidays; weekday tickets are not valid on those days. Children under junior high school age may enter free when accompanied by a guardian (one child per adult).
