Pompompurin 30th Anniversary Book Pre-orders Open: Includes Fluffy Butt Cushion

Sanrio’s beloved character Pompompurin is celebrating 30 years with a special anniversary book, and pre-orders are now open. Titled Pompompurin 30th Anniversary Nonbiri Pompompurin BOOK, the release is scheduled for September 9, 2026, priced at 4,180 yen (tax included).

The book comes with an exclusive bonus: a fluffy butt cushion (ふわもちおしりクッション) featuring Pompompurin’s signature butt mark and the Team Purin members. The cushion has a three-dimensional tail and paws, making it look like Pompompurin has appeared in your home. On the reverse side, an illustration shows Pompompurin together with Muffin, Scone, and Bagel from Team Purin. The cushion also has arm holes on the sides, allowing you to hug it or use it as a pillow by resting your head on it while your arms are through—perfect for relaxing at home or even during office breaks.

This anniversary comes on the heels of a major achievement: Pompompurin won first place in the 2026 Sanrio Character Grand Prix, collecting over 7 million votes. The total number of votes reached a record 70,647,379, a 112% increase from the previous year. It was Pompompurin’s fifth overall win and second consecutive victory. Cinnamoroll took second place, followed by Pochacco in third, Kuromi in fourth, and Hello Kitty in fifth.

To celebrate the book’s release, special events and campaigns are planned. At Kinokuniya Bookstore’s Shinjuku and Yokohama locations, customers who purchase the book will receive an original clear file. Additionally, at the Shinjuku store, a special set sale will be held alongside the simultaneous release of the Pompompurin 30th Anniversary Pompompurin Hero Mascot (published by Pia). Those who buy the two-book set will be entered into a lottery for 300 limited-edition signed Polaroid photos of Pompompurin.

On release day, September 9, 2026, the Shinjuku Kinokuniya store will feature a “Pompompurin Anniversary Go” vehicle and a 2.5-meter-tall “Dakitsuki Purin” (huggable Purin) display. Fans will want to keep an eye on these special 30th-anniversary events.
