Summer anime Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II has released the synopsis and scene cuts for episode 2, titled “Katainaka no Ossan, Seichou o Mimamoru” (The Old Man in the Countryside Watches Over Growth), which airs on July 15, 2026.

Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru is a fantasy sword-fighting series based on the novel by Sagasaki Shigeru and Nabeshima Tetsuhiro. The manga adaptation by Nato Kazuki and two spin-offs have helped the series surpass 10 million copies in total. The first TV anime season aired from April to June 2025 and achieved top 10 rankings on Prime Video in over 45 countries and regions.
In the second season, Beryl Gardener, the former rural sword instructor, now serves as a special instructor for the knight order and guardian of orphans, gradually adapting to life in the capital. However, new challenges await him at the magic academy, his hometown, the border territory, and a foreign land full of schemes. The series continues under director Kashi Sumio, with animation by Passione and Hayabusa Film, and Hirata Hiroaki returning as Beryl.
Episode 2 Synopsis
Beryl, now a temporary instructor, is troubled about how to teach Fissel, who is bad at teaching.
Meanwhile, Mui hasn’t quite opened up to her classmates, but during lunch break, an interaction with Cindy shows signs of change.
At a small party, Beryl smiles warmly at Mui and Fissel’s growth.
At that moment, an incident occurs at the magic academy.
Episode 2 of Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II will air on July 15 (Wednesday) on TV Asahi’s national network “IMAnimation W” slot, BS Asahi, and AT-X.
