The summer anime Inaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II (The Old Man from the Countryside Becomes a Sword Saint II) has released the synopsis and preview images for episode 4, titled Inaka no Ossan, Kisei Suru (The Old Man from the Countryside Goes Home). The episode is set to air on July 29, 2026.

The series is based on the novel by Sagasaki Shigeru and Nabeshima Tetsuhiro, with cumulative sales of over 10 million copies including the manga adaptation and two spin-off titles. The first season aired from April to June 2025 and achieved top-10 rankings on Prime Video in more than 45 countries and regions.
In season 2, Beryl Gardennant—once a humble sword instructor in the countryside—now serves as a special instructor for the knight order and guardian of orphans, gradually adapting to life in the capital. However, his surroundings offer no respite. New challenges await him at a magical academy, his hometown with its own obstacles, a border territory, and a foreign land rife with schemes. As a swordsman and as a person, Beryl must face unavoidable new battles.
Episode 4 Synopsis:
A letter addressed to Beryl arrives from Bidden Village.
The letter, sent by his father Moldea, requests his return home and contains circumstances unique to Bidden Village.
With the Magic Academy on summer break, Beryl invites Mui to accompany him on his homecoming.
Mui accepts, and Henbritz—curious about the village—and Kruni, who tags along uninvited, join them. Beryl makes his first return home, but the next day an unexpected battle erupts.
Episode 4 of Inaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru II will air on July 29 (Wednesday) on TV Asahi’s national network IMAnimation W, BS Asahi, and AT-X.
