The summer anime Reiwa no Dara-san has released a synopsis and scene cuts for its fifth episode, titled “Yamamori no Keifu” (The Lineage of the Mountain Guardian), which begins airing on Thursday, July 30, 2026.
Based on the manga by Tomotsuka Haruomi serialized on Kadokoma and Nico Nico Manga, Reiwa no Dara-san is a fresh take on the occult comedy genre. Directed by Suzuki Rito, the animation is produced by Asahi Production. The cast includes Tamura Mutsumi as Dara-san, Tsuda Minami as Mutsumiya Hinata, Terasawa Momoka as Mutsumiya Kaoru, Koga Aoi as Hasegawa Shu, Sugita Tomokazu as Fudeki Naomichi, Aizawa Mai as Isogo Miwa, Hayami Saori as Ane Miko, Ootsuka Houchuu as Orochi, and Terasoma Masaki as the narrator.
The story begins when Hinata and Kaoru, born into the Mutsumiya family that has guarded a forbidden mountain for generations, trespass into the taboo land during a stormy night. There they encounter the giant serpentine curse god Yamatagimadara, but instead of fearing it, they affectionately call it “Dara-san” and quickly befriend it. As the fearless siblings drag the reluctant deity into their daily lives, the once-sorrowful Dara-san finds itself playing the straight man to their antics, leading to a chaotic yet heartwarming coexistence.
Episode 5 Synopsis: “Yamamori no Keifu”
Dara-san is invited to Hinata’s birthday party. Pressured by Kaoru, Dara-san decides to visit the Mutsumiya house. However, an unexpected guest arrives…!?
Mother Chiya learns from Hyougo that Hinata and Kaoru have been asking about Yamatagimadara, and she recalls her own past when she entered the forbidden area.
Episode 5 of Reiwa no Dara-san will air on TOKYO MX and other stations starting Thursday, July 30, 2026.
