SPY×FAMILY creator Endo Tatsuya has delighted fans with a new illustration of Anya and Bond melting in the summer heat, posted alongside the announcement of Chapter 139’s release.
Chapter 139 Split into Two Parts
Endo Tatsuya-sensei updated his X (formerly Twitter) account to announce that Chapter 139 of SPY×FAMILY is now available on the manga app Shonen Jump+. Due to the chapter becoming longer than expected, it has been split into a two-part story. The author apologized in advance for the next installment having slightly fewer pages.
Accompanying the update was a humorous illustration showing Anya and the family dog Bond seemingly melting from the intense heat. Anya is depicted as a droopy, puddle-like figure, while Bond has lost all recognizable shape, reduced to a liquid form.
Fan Reactions to the Melting Duo
The post quickly sparked a wave of reactions on X, with fans both laughing and expressing sympathy. Comments included: “Bond has become white butter!”, “Is that puddle Bond?”, “Even Anya’s losing popsicle stick is melting!”, “Bond’s original form is gone… it really is hot,” and “Anya and Bond are melting!”
Another Illustration: Anya and Becky at a Fishing Pond
On August 4, Endo-sensei posted another illustration on X, this time featuring Anya and her friend Becky at a fishing pond. The pond is a location with strong ties to the idol group Nogizaka46. It appeared in the music video for former member Nishino Nanase’s solo song “Tsuri Bori” (Fishing Pond), and was also visited by former member Saito Asuka and YOASOBI vocalist Ikuta Rira for a television program.
Endo-sensei is known to be a fan of the “Sakamichi” series of idol groups, which includes Nogizaka46. Fans responded warmly to the illustration, with comments such as “The Anya and Becky outing illustration is so cute!”, “That pond is famous from the MV and also from Kodoku no Gourmet,” “Anya and Becky on a pilgrimage to a sacred place,” and “This combination is the best!”
SPY×FAMILY Series Overview
The manga SPY×FAMILY follows the story of Loid Forger, a top spy codenamed Twilight, who is tasked with building a fake family to infiltrate a prestigious elementary school. He adopts the telepathic girl Anya and enters a contract marriage with assassin Yor, creating a makeshift family for the mission. The series is serialized in Shonen Jump+.
The TV anime adaptation is co-produced by WIT STUDIO and CloverWorks. Season 1 aired from April 2022, Season 2 from October 2023, and Season 3 began on October 4, 2025. The theatrical film SPY×FAMILY CODE: White was released in December 2023 and became a major hit.
