New Season Announced
The Fate/strange Fake stage at Anime NYC 2026 announced that a new season is in production and revealed a teaser visual on Friday.
Animation studio A-1 Pictures produced an anime special subtitled Whispers of Dawn, which aired in July 2023 at Anime Expo 2023, followed by the first season that premiered in Winter 2026. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with multiple subtitles and an English dub.
History
The series originated from an April Fools joke on Narita’s homepage, presented as a prologue to a role-playing game. The second volume of TYPE-MOON Ace reissued it as a stand-alone novel in January 2009 under the title Fate/strange Fake.
Kadokawa began publishing the light novel through its Dengeki Bunko imprint in January 2015, with illustrations by Morii Shizuki (Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia). The ninth volume went on sale in March 2024.
Type-Moon concurrently began releasing a manga adaptation by Narita and Morii digitally under its Type-Moon Books imprint the same month as the light novel, with Kadokawa publishing the print version. The fifth volume shipped in February 2022.
