From Cyberpunk Classic to Modern Preparedness
Ghost in the Shell is a cornerstone of cyberpunk science fiction, set in a near future where advanced information networks and cybernetic prosthetics are the norm. The story follows Major Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body cyborg leading a special unit against cybercrime. The latest series, Ghost in the Shell: The Ghost in the Shell, began airing in July and is animated by Science SARU, the studio behind internationally acclaimed works like Dan Da Dan. This series marks the directorial debut of Moko-chan, who previously served as sub-director on Dan Da Dan.
BUNKER’s Next-Generation Disaster Gear
The collaboration combines BUNKER’s concept of “a disaster backpack that carries power and communication” with the visual identity of Ghost in the Shell. Designed under the tagline “Future disaster, future equipment,” the backpack aims to be something you’ll want to carry every day, not just during emergencies.
In addition to the backpack itself, a concealed solar panel is included to help secure a power supply. The design also anticipates combining it with communication devices such as Starlink Mini, allowing users to carry a reliable connection during disasters. By creating a backpack suitable for daily life, the project encourages a shift from “stockpiling disaster supplies” to “preparing while using.”

Pre-orders open on Disaster Prevention Day to prompt people to consider what they would need in an emergency. The official sales date is also September 1, 2026, and a commercial will begin airing that same day on Fuji TV during the Kabanival!! block, at 23:00 JST.
