The beloved TV anime Nintama Rantarou is adding a new chapter to its plush collection. A fresh batch of Mochipiko plush toys, dressed in casual civilian outfits, is set to arrive at amusement facilities nationwide. The lineup features 12 characters, including Rantarou, Kirimaru, and Shinbei, and will be released in four consecutive monthly waves from September through December 2026.

Based on the ninja gag manga by Amako Soubee, the anime series has been on the air since 1993. It follows the daily misadventures of Rantarou, Kirimaru, and Shinbei—three students at the Ninjutsu Academy who dream of becoming full-fledged ninja. The franchise continues to attract a wide audience across generations.
The feature film Gekijouban Nintama Rantarou: Dokutake Ninjutai Saikyou no Gunshi, released on December 20, 2024, was adapted from the popular novel and depicted a rare serious storyline. In that film, Doi-sensei disappears after heading off for a duel with the Tasogare-doki ninja Morozumi Sonnamon, leading the students into an unexpected adventure.

Mochipiko is FURYU’s original brand known for its squishy, rounded face and compact, plump silhouette. Previous Mochipiko plushies featured the characters in their usual ninja gear, but this new series presents them in casual clothing for the first time.

The first wave includes Doi Hansuke, Inadera Rantarou, and Settsu no Kirimaru. The second wave features Tachibana Senzou, Shiokawa Bunjiro, and Fukutomi Shinbei. Wave three brings Kema Rokusaburou, Zengouji Isaku, and the beloved dog Hemuhemu. Finally, the fourth wave introduces Nakazai Chouzou, Nanamatsu Koheita, and Yamada Rikichi. Each wave contains three characters, released sequentially over the four-month period.

Each plush stands about 15 cm tall, making them easy to display. A loop attached to the head lets fans attach them to bags or other accessories. Along with the adorable Mochipiko expression, each character’s hairstyle, facial features, and casual outfit design are faithfully captured.

The release schedule is as follows: wave 1 arrives in the third week of September 2026, wave 2 in the fourth week of October, wave 3 in the third week of November, and wave 4 in the fourth week of December. All can be found at amusement facilities across Japan.
These casual-outfit Mochipiko plushies offer a fresh way to enjoy the characters outside their usual ninja attire. With their squishy charm and portable design, fans can now keep Rantarou and friends close by—whether at home or on the go.
