Mushoku Tensei III Episode 14: Eris Rides After Rudeus’ Letter as 2027 Second Cour Confirmed

The summer anime Mushoku Tensei III: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu aired Episode 14, "Kakugo" (Resolve), on September 27, 2026 at 24:00. The web preview scenario was written by original author Rifujin na Magonote. The episode is the first-cour finale, and the past-life man discusses the "diary" that starts it all.

Rifujin na Magonote began the original Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu novel on the user-generated site Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2012. The story follows a 34-year-old shut-in who spends his days on games and the internet, then is reborn in another world as the boy Rudeus Greyrat. Carrying memories and regrets from his previous life, he tries to live his new life seriously in an epic fantasy.

The TV anime’s first season began in January 2021. The second season, from July 2023, covered the "Nukonuma-hen," "Ranoa Magic University-hen," and "Ten’i Meikyuu-hen." The third season started on July 5, 2026 with the "Eris Shugyou-hen," centered on Eris Greyrat’s days of training after once traveling with Rudeus, and moved into the new "Chaos Breaker-hen" with the appearance of Kouryuuou Pergius.

Old Rudeus’ Diary Revealed

Just before the finale, the original novel version of the "diary" that Episode 13 visualized and terrified viewers was published. It appears in Volume 15. At the start of the finale, Rudeus reads what is written there, and then he vomits. Fans were warned to brace themselves.

After Episode 13 aired, Eris’ third-season teaser visual drew renewed attention. Some online theories suggested that the boldly drawn Eris is the Eris from the Atophe battle described in the diary. She protects Rudeus, and Eris takes Atophe’s blow…

Rudeus Vomits

In Episode 14, after finishing old Rudeus’ diary, Rudeus is hit by nausea. Images of the old Rudeus at the end of his life flash through his mind, and he rushes to the toilet. Sylphiette, worried, asks if he is all right, and he hugs her. "I knew you weren’t really all right. I’ll always comfort you," she says in a gentle voice.

Viewers were struck by Sylphiette’s kindness. Reactions included "Sylphie is too cute," "She is a holy mother," and "That is a goddess-level response right after he vomited." Even without Rudeus explaining everything, she senses something and accepts him.

At the same time, other viewers worried about Rudeus: "No wonder he threw up…" and "That must be brutal…"

When Ohara Yuiko’s "Hikari no Uta" played, the episode showed Rudeus serving his family. Viewers noticed the lyrics were different: "Wait, is this the second verse?" They also noted the usual "special opening" approach: "So they really didn’t make an OP video this season…"

Rudeus Writes a Letter

While warming himself by the fireplace with Sylphiette, Rudeus speaks to Roxy, who is sitting on his lap. "I would very much like you to live a long life, Roxy," he says. They are both still alive. He must avoid what was written in that diary. The past-life man thinks so, but online viewers called it a "massive death flag."

Sylphiette and Roxy also feel that Rudeus is acting strange that day. Back in his room, Rudeus decides that one of the "three things I must do" is to write a letter that night. Online, fans wondered about its contents: "He has to send a letter to Eris," "It’s the letter reporting his affair." The contents are not revealed yet.

Rudeus Confesses

After eating with his family, Rudeus asks Sylphiette and Roxy to come to his room.

With a serious expression, he begins: "The other day, I met someone like a Miko… a person who can foresee the future." Someone is targeting his family. In the worst case, there will be deaths. He tells them this dangerous story.

Sylphiette’s face shows worry as she asks, "Rudy is going to be in danger outside again, isn’t he?" Roxy, sounding somewhat detached, says, "While Rudy is away, I will protect the family."

Viewers watched the exchange with thoughts like "Aren’t you being too vague, Rudeus, and your wives understand anyway," "Wouldn’t it be faster to say someone other than yourself dies in the future?" and "For Rudeus, he cannot easily say that you two are the targets."

Sylphiette’s Expression Darkens

Rudeus has one more important thing to tell them. "There may be one more wife," he says, and Sylphiette visibly frowns. "Who? Nanahoshi?" she asks. It is not Nanahoshi.

When Rudeus answers, "Her name is Eris," Sylphiette raises her eyebrows. "That person is the reason you became ill, isn’t she?" Because she knows the grim Rudeus from before their marriage, Sylphiette cannot hide her concern. But Rudeus reveals his desire to face Eris. After all, what happened was like a misunderstanding on Rudeus’ part…

Viewer reactions to the conversation included "Sylphie’s eyes sharpen," "That look says Nanahoshi is not allowed," "He is clumsy or just bad with words," and "An affair declaration."

Roxy, the Elder, Smiles

It was Roxy who took the mature approach. "How about deciding after actually meeting Eris-san? Rudy will not know many things until he meets her again," she says. Those words lift Sylphiette’s mood.

"Then please bring Eris-san here. We can talk with her, and if it really does not work, I will oppose it then too," Roxy continues with a smile. Sylphiette also smiles in agreement: "I will meet her and see for myself."

Roxy of the long-lived Migurd race proves that her long life is not just for show. Online, fans erupted with praise: "As expected of Roxy-sama," "Roxy’s words as an elder," "Roxy-tan’s wisdom in proposing they actually meet her," "How generous," and "As expected, Roxy can look at things from above in a good way because she is more of an adult than Sylphie."

Hitogami Sulks

Hitogami appears before the past-life man again. "You’re pulling some ridiculous tricks," he says, displeased. Coming from the future is cheating, and things were about to go so well… He seems to be sulking. His goal, he says, is "world peace," but the past-life man lets it go.

When the conversation turns to Ryuujin Orsted, Hitogami reveals that in the future he will be struck down by Orsted and Rudeus’ descendants. He also explains why he targeted Roxy. When the past-life man says he will do anything to save his family, Hitogami reacts to the word "anything."

"Then kill Orsted," Hitogami says with a grin.

Online reactions to Hitogami were far from friendly: "World peace, huh? Is that true?" "You only have yourself to blame for provoking him," and "I seriously want to punch him."

Rudeus’ New Resolve

When Rudeus wakes up, Sylphiette and Roxy are confused by his different demeanor. He tells his two wives with a haunted look:

"I have to kill one person."

As Rudeus renews his determination, viewers worried: "One person, but is he even human?" "Hey, hey… this is too ominous…" and "Don’t go for a mutual kill!"

Eris Receives the Letter

Eris is preparing to leave the Sword Holy Land for the Magic City Sharia. Nina, the daughter of the Sword King who trained alongside her, tells her rumors about her boyfriend. He conquered a legendary labyrinth, destroyed an immortal Demon King, and fought on equal footing with one of the Seven Great Powers…

Eris is proud of her boyfriend, Rudeus, and his achievements. But then Nina adds, "I also heard he likes girls with small chests." Eris involuntarily looks down at her own chest. There are two not-small mounds there.

Viewers were delighted by Eris’ appearance: "The Eris part is here," "Dressed-up Eris…!!" and "I wonder why the rumor does not include that he is married." Her screen time decreased in the second half of Season 3, but Season 3 began with the Eris training arc. And then a letter from Rudeus arrives.

However, Eris cannot read it: "There are many characters I have not learned!" Isolte, who has finished training and plans to return to the Asura Kingdom, helps by reading it aloud.

Do you remember our first night?
At that time, I vowed in my heart to spend my life with you.
But when I woke in the morning, you were not beside me.

Online, readers were slightly worried by the contents: "He’s talking about their first night lol," and "Is it okay to make her read this?" Eris also grows more anxious…

After finishing, Isolte is furious: "This can only be seen as looking down on women!" Nina, perhaps being considerate, says, "It felt like a fairly considerate message." But there is another page. Isolte reads it again.

Eris rides her horse without hesitation, and online fans exploded. Reactions included:

After the episode aired, Rifujin na Magonote posted: "Even though things got exciting, it is a waste to pause the story here!
