Hypnosis Mic 12th LIVE MIC AS ONE Report: 21 Cast Members Across 7 Divisions Unite

The 12th live for Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle-, titled 12th LIVE ≪MIC AS ONE≫, was held on October 3 and 4, 2026 at Pia Arena MM in Yokohama. In addition to the in-person shows, the performances were screened via live viewing at cinemas across Japan and streamed live on ABEMA. The event followed 11th LIVE ≪Final D.R.B≫, which was built around the First Stage battle matchups from the Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- film. For this special stage, the six divisions—Ikebukuro, Yokohama, Shibuya, Shinjuku, Osaka, and Nagoya—were joined by Chuou Division, which centers on female characters, bringing the full cast to 21 performers.

Day 1 Report: Battle Songs and Division Showcases

When the venue lights went down, the dance team Division Dance Battle led the way, and the 18 members of the six divisions appeared on stage to loud cheers. Kimura Subaru, the voice of Yamada Ichiro, called out to the audience, ‘Enjoy yourselves!’ and the show opened with Division All Stars performing ‘Hypnosis Mic -Division Battle Anthem- ＋.’ The 18 performers manipulated tone and rhythm with skill, bringing out each character’s dense individuality.

DJ U-ICHI (HOME MADE KAZOKU) then kicked things off with scratches, and Buster Bros!!! and Bad Ass Temple performed ‘Last Man Standing.’ Next came MAD TRIGGER CREW and どついたれ本舗 with ‘Out of Harmony,’ followed by Fling Posse and 麻天狼 with ‘Stick To My Mic.’ These battle songs had been created for the Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- film. The aggressive lyrics and rap, and the tension of performers glaring at one another, were offset by moments when they put arms around each other or cheered on each other’s verses, creating a striking dynamic that felt rooted in mutual respect.

Each division then took turns performing original songs. Buster Bros!!! brought an old-school hip-hop lineage to ‘Three Kings.’ MAD TRIGGER CREW showed a tough side with the ska and mixture sound of ‘Choice Is Yours.’ Fling Posse delivered ‘バラの束,’ contrasting a pop track with hard rhymes and a comfortable call-and-response. 麻天狼’s ‘BLESS YOU’ united the crowd with claps and a message of leaving no one behind. どついたれ本舗’s ‘笑門来福’ was highly entertaining, with easy-to-copy hand motions and a pose inspired by the giant Dotonbori sign. Bad Ass Temple’s ‘シンジルチカラ’ displayed tight unison and interplay. The excitement kept rising, reaching a peak when all 21 members, including 言の葉党, performed ‘Claim Victory.’ The applause and responses seemed to prove how deeply the characters and songs are loved.

Day 2 Report: New Tracks, Medleys, and a 13th LIVE Announcement

Day 2 began with DJ U-ICHI’s Hypnosis Mic DJ mix, followed by Division All Stars performing ‘for DJ’s,’ a track that pays respect to DJ culture. The group then moved through songs from the album Trick or Repeat, released on September 2: ‘HYPSTER,’ a pop and colorful track that had all 21 members, including 言の葉党, passing the mic; ‘Both Sides,’ which switched the mood as the six divisions filled the venue with a serious, hard atmosphere; and 言の葉党’s ‘Tea Party,’ which closed the segment with a contrast between cute sound and resolute lyrics. Day 2 also featured the party-minded ‘Return of the King,’ where the 18-member unison hook rang out and the audience raised their hands in response, and ‘Diggin’,’ which layered detailed rap patterns over a high-speed four-on-the-floor track for an overwhelming sense of speed. Along with different costumes from Day 1, the structural differences between the two days were also notable.

After the Division Dance Battle dance stage, Kimura Subaru announced, ‘From here we would like to deliver a medley. The top batter is us, Buster Bros!!!’ and the show entered its medley section. Buster Bros!!! started a cappella with ‘IKEBUKURO WEST GAME PARK’ and seamlessly connected it to ‘IKEBUKURO WEST BLOCK PARTY’ and ‘おはようイケブクロ.’ MAD TRIGGER CREW centered on ‘Yokohama Walker’ and dropped ‘Scarface’ and ‘HUNTING CHARM,’ filling the venue with a hard-boiled Yokohama atmosphere. Fling Posse moved from ‘Shibuya Marble Texture -PCCS-‘ to ‘Black Journey’ and ‘Stella,’ even taking a commemorative photo with the audience and showing off pop color. 麻天狼 developed ‘Shinjuku Style ～笑わすな～,’ ‘パピヨン,’ and ‘シンクロ・シティ,’ revealing a wide range from tough mic relays to relaxed everyday scenes. どついたれ本舗 built on ‘あゝオオサカdreamin’night’ with ‘笑オオサカ！～What a OSAKA!’ and ‘なにわ☆パラダイ酒,’ heating up the crowd with Kansai-ben groove and light comedy. Bad Ass Temple overwhelmed the audience with ‘Bad Ass Temple Funky Sounds,’ ‘でらすげぇ宴,’ and ‘R.I.P.,’ clashing high, middle, and low voices over a rocky sound. The six divisions passed the baton without pause, and 言の葉党 continued with a medley of ‘Femme Fatale’ and ‘Verbal Justice,’ drawing loud cheers.

On Day 2, the medley structure changed, and the richness of each division’s variety became even clearer. Ikebukuro added ‘Bring it on’ and ‘Re:start!!!’; Yokohama added ‘シノギ（Dead Pools）’ and ‘ジンギ（Pay Respect）’; Shibuya added ‘とりまGet on the floor’ and ‘キズアトがキズナとなる.’ Shinjuku’s ‘The Champion’ and ‘TOMOSHIBI,’ Osaka’s ‘New World’ and ‘縁 -ENISHI-,’ and Nagoya’s ‘SANITY’ and ‘開眼’ further drew out the contrasts within each division’s worldview across both days.

After the intense medley section, the show moved to the MC segment. Kimura Subaru began with, ‘At last, we were able to do a live with seven divisions and 21 people.’ The cast members spoke about their feelings for the day, sometimes in character and sometimes in their own words, while banter flew between members across division lines, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.

The event then announced that the second phase of the ‘The Block Party’ project and a unit vote would be held, following the 2023 EPs ‘The Block Party -HOMIEs-‘ and ‘The Block Party -HOODs-,’ which featured solo and cross-division combinations. Excited murmurs and cheers rose from the audience.

It was also announced that a 13th LIVE would be held on August 7 and 8, 2027 at GMO Arena Saitama (Saitama Super Arena), celebrating the 10th anniversary and billed as the largest live in Hypnosis Mic history. The powerful call to ‘Please keep next year open!’ was met with thunderous applause and celebration.

With the prompt, ‘Let’s enjoy the last spurt together!’ the live entered its final block. Division All Stars performed ‘MIC AS ONE,’ dramatically showing 21 members weaving the story through their mics. ‘Finally, back to basics. This is the origin of Hypnosis Mic!’ they said before closing with ‘Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- FINAL.’ The classic anthem, now performed by all 21 members, strongly impressed the breadth and three-dimensionality of the ever-expanding story world. The passionate stage came to a close with the Hypnosis Mic greeting, ‘Rap is fun, C!’

With the surprise announcement of the largest live in Hypnosis Mic history, the performance again suggested further evolution and change. As the project heads toward its 10th anniversary in 2027, expectations for the new scenery Hypnosis Mic will show continue to grow.
