The currently airing TV anime Hotaru no Yomeiri is also getting a live-action adaptation. Fuji TV has announced that the live-action series will broadcast in 2027, and original creator Tachibana Oreko has shared a comment.
Hotaru no Yomeiri is a manga by Tachibana Oreko, known as the author of Promise Cinderella and the character original designer for the TV anime Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de. Set in the Meiji era as civilization and enlightenment advanced, it follows Kirigaya Satoko, a young lady who dreams of marrying into a distinguished family and making her father proud, and Gotou Shinpei, an assassin who dotes on Satoko, in a mad love story of forbidden love.
The TV anime began broadcasting on Friday, October 9, 2026. Lynn voices Kirigaya Satoko, Uchiyama Kouki voices Gotou Shinpei, Itou Kento voices Ogawa Koutarou, and Tsuda Kenjirou voices Saegusa.
After the first anime episode finished airing, a PR video announced the 2027 live-action adaptation. The unusual development drew surprise and joy on social media.
Further details will be announced sequentially. With questions like who will play Satoko and Shinpei and what the live-action footage will look like, expectations are rising for the adaptation following the anime broadcast. In response to the live-action decision, original creator Tachibana Oreko commented, speaking about the joy and anticipation for the adaptation.
The non-credit opening and ending movies for the series have also been released together.
