The Korean webtoon Nyuugaku Youhei, serialized on NAVER WEBTOON and LINE Manga, is officially getting a TV anime adaptation. The series is set to air in 2027, and a teaser visual, PV, and main staff details have been revealed.
TV Anime Adaptation Confirmed for 2027
Nyuugaku Youhei began serialization on NAVER WEBTOON in Korea in 2020. The following year, it also launched on LINE Manga for readers in Japan. It went on to take first place in the LINE Manga 2023 Annual Ranking and first place in the LINE Manga 2024 Annual Ranking (Serialized), earning the top spot for two consecutive years.
The work has been distributed in 10 languages worldwide and surpassed 2.84 billion PV cumulatively as of September 2026. Animation production is handled by J.C.STAFF, and the TV anime is scheduled to air in 2027.
Story
At age 8, Tatewaki Souma was the sole survivor of a plane crash. After losing his memories, he was forced to live as a mercenary in a foreign land in order to survive. One day, he regains his memories and ends a long 10-year life as a mercenary. He returns to his hometown, reunites with his family, and enrolls in the high school attended by his younger sister, Yurina.
As a former mercenary high school student, Souma stands up against the evil and violence spreading through the city in order to protect his precious family and comrades. The series is described as a thrilling, unmatched action story.
Teaser Visual and PV
A teaser visual has been released featuring the protagonist, Tatewaki Souma, wearing a high school uniform with a cool expression. The design includes bullet holes that hint at his past as a mercenary.
A newly released PV also reveals the main staff information.

Ono Manabu, who has directed works including Sword Art Online: Alicization, is set as director and series composer. Haneda Kouji, who served as chief animation director on titles such as Dandadan, takes on character design. Sawano Hiroyuki, whose credits include Ore dake Level Up na Ken and who is active beyond Japan, is composing the music.
Special Illustration and Comments
A special illustration with comments from original author YC and artist rakhyun has arrived. Alongside an illustration of Souma, a message expresses joy, saying, “It really feels like a dream.”
The TV anime Nyuugaku Youhei is scheduled to air in 2027. More details, including the broadcast timing, will be announced at a later date.
