Tokyo Skytree Teams Up with Madoka★Magica for a Magical Collaboration!
To commemorate the release of the upcoming film Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magika 〈Walpurgis no Kaiten〉, the Tokyo Skytree will host its first-ever collaboration event with the series from January 8 to April 6, 2026. The exciting details have now been unveiled!
Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica is an original anime that aired for 12 episodes starting in January 2011. This magical girl story, which begins with the strange encounters of the protagonist Kaname Madoka, captivated audiences with its depiction of the girls’ daily lives, unpredictable and thrilling plot developments, and its unique worldview. The series is known for the creative team of director Shinbou Akiyuki, writer Urobuchi Gen (Nitroplus), original character designer Aoki Ume, and animation studio Shaft.
The franchise saw two compilation films, [Zenpen] Hajimari no Monogatari and [Kouhen] Eien no Monogatari, in 2012, followed by a new sequel film, [Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari, in 2013. The latest chapter, Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magika 〈Walpurgis no Kaiten〉, is set to premiere in February 2026.
Six Magical Girls Take Over the Tower
The six magical girls—Kaname Madoka, Akemi Homura, Tomoe Mami, Miki Sayaka, Sakura Kyouko, and Momoemura Nagisa—will appear in the collaboration event “Tokyo Skytree × Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica: Tsukiyo no Waltz.” The event will be packed with exhibition decorations throughout the Tembou Deck and Tembou Corridor.
Special Observatory Tickets with Original Art Prints
Special “Observatory Tickets with Original Illustration Prints” featuring the event’s limited-edition key visual—which can also be used as a 2026 calendar—will be sold. The A3 paper prints will come in 6 random varieties. Tickets are available for purchase via Seven Tickets until March 30, 2026, at 23:29.
Exhibit Decorations & Photo Spots on the Tembou Deck and Corridor
The characters will gather primarily in the Tembou Corridor, 450 meters above ground. Impressive exhibit decorations using the event’s key visual and special photo spots will be set up for memorable pictures.
From the beautifully silhouetted Tembou Shuttle (elevator) dubbed “Hajimari no Tobira (The Door of Beginning),” to the welcome area “Tsukiyo no Whaie (Moonlit Foyer)” where you can take photos with the magical girls, and the corridor area “Tsuioku no Gallery (Gallery of Recollections)” that walks you through the story’s intersecting hope and despair, you can enjoy the night view and the world of Madoka★Magica simultaneously.
Other captivating areas include the photo spot “Yakusoku no Wa (Ring of Promise)” where you can pose with Madoka & Homura, the slope “Kakugo no Michi (Path of Resolve)” lined with impactful quotes from the characters, the highest point “Negai no Akari (Light of Wishes)” at the Sorakara Point, and the mini photo spot “Kioku no Finale (Finale of Memories)” to capture these moments.
Event-Exclusive Cafe Menu
A selection of limited drinks themed after each character will be available, such as “Madoka no Ichigo Drink” (a peach jelly & strawberry-flavored乳酸菌 drink) inspired by Madoka, and “Homura no Budou Soda” (apple-flavored purple jelly & grape soda) for Homura.
Food items include “Kyuubee no White Doria,” a doria finished with a creamy white sauce inspired by Kyuubey, and “Walpurgis no Yoru Parfait,” which uses chocolate brownies and flakes to represent Walpurgisnacht.
With each ordered collaboration cafe item, you’ll receive one random coaster from a set of 7 original designs (while supplies last).
Event-Exclusive Goods
A variety of event-limited goods featuring the original key visual and chibi characters will be sold. The lineup includes “Yura Yura Acrylic Stands,” “Blind Hologram Can Badges,” “Tote Bags,” “Printed Cookies,” “Desk Mats,” “Stained Glass-style Keychains,” “Book-shaped Marshmallows,” and “Blankets.”
A purchase bonus of an “Original Shopper” bag will be given with purchases of 5,000 yen or more (tax included, while supplies last).
Event-Exclusive Photo Service & Sorakara-chan Greeting
There will be a limited photo service where you can take pictures with the characters against the backdrop of the breathtaking view from the Tembou Corridor. Furthermore, you can enjoy a greeting session and commemorative photo with the Tokyo Skytree’s official character, Sorakara-chan, wearing a special costume inspired by Madoka (Magical Girl ver.).
The event photo service costs 1,700 yen (tax included) per session and includes an event-exclusive photo frame—a perfect souvenir.
Special Video Screening & Special Lighting
A special video (approx. 6 minutes) will be screened on the panorama screen of the observatory deck at 350 meters. The powerful imagery can be enjoyed in the night-time-only immersive space “SKYTREE ROUND THEATER,” which utilizes 13 speakers and 24 projectors.
Additionally, on select dates, special lighting inspired by each character will illuminate the tower. The display will feature 6 different lighting patterns, changing approximately every two and a half minutes.
