A Look Back at the Skeleton Knight’s Journey
The first season of the anime, produced by Studio KAI and HORNETS, aired for 12 episodes in the Spring 2022 season and was streamed globally by Crunchyroll. It’s based on the light novel series penned by Hakari Ennki, which first started on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2014. Overlap publishes the novels with illustrations by KeG, and the series has been a hit, with a cumulative 3.2 million copies of its volumes in circulation.
For manga fans, the adaptation drawn by Sawano Akira has been running on Overlap’s Comic Gardo web portal since 2017. The 14th volume just hit shelves on June 25, showing the story’s ongoing popularity.
Where to Find It in English
Good news for international fans: Seven Seas Entertainment holds the English license for both the light novel and the manga. They’ve been steadily releasing the volumes, with the 10th novel volume out in April 2023 and the 14th manga volume scheduled for March 24, 2026.
