Get ready, fans! The beloved magical girls from Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika (also known as Puella Magi Madoka Magica) are making a splash in Tokyo’s otaku hub. Kaname Madoka, Akemi Homura, and the rest of the crew are suiting up in original costumes for a special pop-up store at the Bandai Namco Cross Store Atre Akihabara Shop. Mark your calendars—the “CHARA POP STORE” kicks off tomorrow, January 16, 2026!

About Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika
First airing in January 2011 as a 12-episode original anime, Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika took the world by storm with its unique take on the magical girl genre. The series masterfully blends slice-of-life moments with heart-pounding, unpredictable twists, all set in a world where the line between ordinary girls and magical beings blurs. It all begins with the mysterious encounter that changes protagonist Kaname Madoka’s life forever.
Here’s a look at the creative minds behind this iconic series:
| Role | Staff |
|---|---|
| Director | Shinbo Akiyuki |
| Scriptwriter | Urobuchi Gen (Nitroplus) |
| Character Design Original | Aoki Ume |
| Animation Production | Shaft |
The franchise expanded with movies: the recap films “[Prologue] Hajimari no Monogatari” (it can be translated as The Beginning Story) and “[Epilogue] Eien no Monogatari” (The Eternal Story) in 2012, followed by the new chapter “[Shinpen] Hangyaku no Monogatari” (The Rebellion Story) in 2013. The excitement continues with the upcoming Gekijouban Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika <Walpurgis no Kaiten> set for release in February 2026!

Collaboration Event at Atre Akihabara
From January 16 to 31, 2026, Atre Akihabara is joining the fun with the “Atre Akihabara × Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magika” collaboration event.
During this period, the venue will be decked out with wall wrappings and BGM from the series to amp up the mood. Shoppers can score illustration cards (13 types in total) randomly—one card for every 500 yen (tax included) spent at participating stores in Atre Akihabara 1 and 2.

Heads up! The Atre Akihabara collab has a shorter run than the CHARA POP STORE, so if you want to experience both, make sure to visit Akihabara by January 31!
