ano & Soshina Join Voice Cast for ‘New Theatrical Edition ☆ Keroro Gunso’! ‘Soshina-san Was Better Than Expected!’

It has been announced that ano and Soshina will join as additional voice cast, and Shisonn Hasegawa will handle narration for the new film New Theatrical Edition ☆ Keroro Gunso: Resurrection and Immediate Earth Destruction Crisis!. The film will open nationwide on June 26.

Keroro Gunso is a comedy manga by Yoshizaki Mine, serialized in Monthly Shonen Ace and celebrating its 27th year of serialization. It depicts the interactions between the alien Keroro team who came to invade Earth and the humans they encounter. The TV anime series, flash anime, and five previous theatrical films were produced, making it a popular work that became a social phenomenon in the 2000s.

New Theatrical Edition ☆ Keroro Gunso: Resurrection and Immediate Earth Destruction Crisis! is the first theatrical film in 16 years since 2010’s Super Theatrical Edition Keroro Gunso: Birth! Ultimate Keroro, Miracle Time-Space Island!!, produced as part of the anime’s 20th anniversary project. The Keroro squad, sensing the threat of a new invader, rise up with their pride as invaders on the line. The strongest enemy in Keroro Gunso history opens the curtain on a battle of the largest scale and surprises.

Now, additional voice cast and narration to enhance the film have been announced.
ano plays the role of “Researcher Robot”. Known as a huge Keroro Gunso fan, ano also serves as the promotion captain for the 20th anniversary project and performs the theme song “Karishippanashi Destiny” and the opening song “Mata Kaette Kita Kerok! to March” as a duet with Soshina. Now, ano has also been confirmed to join as a voice actor.

As a robot that assists Aruru and Deruru, a unique and cute robot characteristic of ano has been created. Meanwhile, Soshina, who performs the opening song with ano, joins as the role of “Shibuya Man” who gets possessed by a demon and becomes heated. Together with ano, Soshina will further energize New Theatrical Edition ☆ Keroro Gunso.

Taking on the narration—an indispensable presence in Keroro Gunso that moves the story forward while throwing in tsukkomi at every turn—is Hasegawa Shinobu (Shisonn). Hasegawa’s cool tsukkomi will shine in the full-boke Keroro world.

ano-san: “I never thought I would get to participate, so I was super happy. It was an honor! The amount of lines was tiny, but being able to be a part of the Keroro world even a little made me very happy! Please go to the theater and watch it.”

Soshina-san: “Even just looking at before and after my scene, the Keroro style was exploding, so I thought ‘As expected!’ and had fun. “Since it’s a Reiwa version, I wanted to add a bit of a modern feel, so I submitted many ideas for the lyrics. Since it’s a song I really love, I was truly happy to actually sing it myself, and I listened to it so much that I felt I could record it with enjoyment. It’s really good. I’m confident! I was personally wondering how Soshina-san would do, but when I listened it was really good. It was better than I expected!”

“Ano-chan was wonderful. Her voice really matched ‘Kerok! to March’. I don’t know if it’s the optimal solution for Reiwa, but as a wonderful song, listening to it was really good. I also got to sing the solo part that Tsunoda Nobuo sang back in the day; it was deeply moving. In the first half I sang like Tsunoda-san, and in the second half I tried singing like Soshina. I want everyone to listen to the full version. For the part that sounds like a line at the end, we recorded two patterns: ‘arashita~’ and ‘ta~da~’, so please look forward to seeing which one is used.”

Hasegawa-san: “When I received the offer to handle the narration for such a great anime that will be passed down to posterity, my heart danced and my legs trembled simultaneously. I’ll do my best not to tarnish the path laid by my predecessors. I hope that people of all ages, including parents and children watching an anime they saw in their childhood with their own kids, will enjoy it.”
