Dive into the Sweet World of Sumikko Gurashi: A Marine Party Buffet Lands in Kyushu!
Get ready, Kyushu! The beloved characters of Sumikko Gurashi are making a splash with their first-ever sweets buffet in the region. Titled “Sumikko-tachi no Marine Party”, this delightful event is set to kick off on July 5th, 2025, running exclusively on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. It’s a special tie-up with the Brasserie & Lounge Ciala on the 4th floor of the Hilton Fukuoka Seahawk, promising an adorable and tasty experience.

Developed by San-X, Sumikko Gurashi features characters who feel most at ease in corners. With their slightly negative but unique personalities, these characters and their world have captivated audiences across generations, from children to adults, celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2022.
In 2019, the first theatrical anime Eiga Sumikko Gurashi Tobidasu Ehon to Himitsu no Ko was released. This was followed by the second film, Eiga Sumikko Gurashi Aoi Tsukiyo no Mahou no Ko, in 2021, and the third, Eiga Sumikko Gurashi Tsugihagi Koujou no Fushigi na Ko, in 2023. Fans can also enjoy the first stage production, the “Puppet Musical Sumikko Gurashi Tobidasu Ehon to Himitsu no Ko,” which began performances on August 16, 2024. A new chapter started in April 2025 with the launch of the TV Anime Sumikko Gurashi Koko ga Ochitsukun Desu, airing within Nippon Television’s morning program “ZIP!”. And there’s more to look forward to, as the fourth Eiga Sumikko Gurashi film is slated for release this autumn.
Now, Shirokuma, Penguin?, Tonkatsu, Neko, Tokage, and the rest of the gang are landing in Kyushu for this special event!
The “Sumikko-tachi no Marine Party” sweets buffet, marking the first time it’s held in Kyushu, is inspired by the Sumikko Gurashi “Marine Gokko” (playing pretend marine) theme and features the Sumikko-tachi dressed in marine style. It offers approximately 20 varieties of adorable sweets and savory light meals. Let’s take a peek at some of the menu highlights:
Sumikko Jelly
Enjoy refreshing “Lemon flavored” jelly featuring Shirokuma, Penguin?, Neko, and Tokage, alongside “Chocolate Lemon flavored” jelly for Tonkatsu.

Marine Gokko Cake
This cake layers shortcake sponge, peach jam, and vanilla-flavored cream. Adorable chocolates depicting the Sumikko-tachi peeking through a marine-patterned inner tube make it super cute!

Sumikko Marine Cookie
Rich with vanilla aroma, these mini cookies are adorned with designs of the Sumikko-tachi dressed in their marine styles.
