Yoshitoki Ooima’s captivating manga, Fumetsu no Anata e, which is also known internationally as *To Your Eternity*, concluded its serialization in the 27th issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine this past Wednesday. The final chapter, the 201st installment, marked the culmination of an incredible eight and a half year run that has touched the hearts of many readers. The series has achieved significant success, boasting a cumulative circulation of 4 million copies across its volumes.

Manga’s Publication Journey

Yoshitoki Ooima first began drawing Fumetsu no Anata e in Weekly Shounen Magazine back in November 2016. This was about two years after she wrapped up her widely acclaimed debut series, Koe no Katachi (known in English as *A Silent Voice*). The manga has been collected into numerous volumes, with the 24th volume having shipped on April 16th. Fans can look forward to the 25th and final volume, which is scheduled for release on August 12th, completing their physical collections of this epic tale.

For readers outside of Japan, Kodansha USA licensed the manga for English release in January 2017, making the series accessible to a global audience. They released the 22nd volume in English on April 22nd.

The Anime Adaptation’s Legacy and Future

Fumetsu no Anata e also received a well-loved anime adaptation, bringing its story to the screen. The first season was produced by Brain’s Base and ran for 20 episodes, premiering in Spring 2021. A second season, with animation handled by studio Drive, followed, airing for 20 episodes in Fall 2022. Fans of the anime have more to anticipate, as a third season has already been announced and is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2025, promising to continue It’s compelling narrative. Crunchyroll streamed the first two seasons of the anime, providing both subtitles and an English dub for international viewers.

Synopsis of Fumetsu no Anata e

Here is a brief overview of the story that has captivated audiences:

It, a mysterious immortal being, is sent to the Earth with no emotions nor identity. However, It is able to take the shape of those around that have a strong impetus.

At first, It is a sphere. Then, It imitates the form of a rock. As the temperature drops and snow falls atop the moss, It inherits the moss. When an injured, lone wolf comes limping by and lays down to die, It takes on the form of the animal. Finally, It gains consciousness and begins to traverse the empty tundra until It meets a boy.

The boy lives alone in a ghost town, which the adults abandoned long ago in search of the paradise said to exist far beyond the endless sea of white tundra. However, their efforts were for naught, and now the boy is in a critical state.

Acquiring the form of the boy, It sets off on a never-ending journey, in search of new experiences, places, and people.
