Fans of the beloved digital pet Tamagotchi can now bring a touch of nostalgia to their workspace. Bandai has opened pre-orders for a new “PC Cushion Mametchi” on its official online shop Premium Bandai. Priced at 7,700 yen (tax included), the item is scheduled to ship in August 2026.
The Tamagotchi franchise first launched on November 23, 1996, sparking a massive craze among high school girls in Japan. After a revival in 2004 with the infrared-equipped “Kaettekita! Tamagotchi Plus,” the series expanded globally with new features and playstyles. As of the end of July 2025, cumulative worldwide shipments have reached 100 million units.
The “PC Cushion Mametchi” is a set consisting of a plush-type cushion and a detachable armrest, designed to support long hours of computer work. It offers three usage modes: as a full cushion with armrest attached, armrest alone, or cushion alone—letting users adapt to different scenes.
The plush cushion stands about 49 cm tall, offering a cute, voluminous size perfect for hugging. The armrest features a reversible design, allowing users to switch its look depending on their mood. The armrest can be removed and used compactly on its own, adding a fun touch to daily desk work or study sessions. Its fluffy texture invites gentle pats.
