Beloved Picture Book Series “Pan Dorobou” is Getting an Anime Adaptation!
An anime adaptation of the popular picture book series, 『パンどろぼう』 (Pan Dorobou), has officially been decided. This exciting announcement comes just ahead of the release of the seventh book in the series, 「パンどろぼうとスイーツおうじ」 (Pan Dorobou to Sweets Ouji), set for September 10th, adding even more momentum to the anime project.
『パンどろぼう』 is a beloved picture book series created by illustrator and author Keiko Shibata. The story follows the adventures of a great thief, Pan Dorobou, who is on a quest to find the most delicious bread in the world. The series has been a massive success, boasting a cumulative circulation of over 4.5 million copies.
To commemorate this fantastic news, Keiko Shibata herself has provided a special illustration. It depicts Pan Dorobou looking absolutely thrilled, raising both hands in joy, exclaiming, “An anime adaptation! How exciting!”

New Book on the Horizon: “Pan Dorobou to Sweets Ouji”
As mentioned, the seventh book in the series, 「パンどろぼうとスイーツおうじ」, is scheduled for release on September 10th. This new adventure takes place in the Sweets Oukoku (Sweets Kingdom). The story sees Pan Dorobou stepping up to solve the picky eating habits of the Sweets Ouji (Sweets Prince), who refuses to eat anything but sweets.
