Look Back with Over 400 Color Illustrations Until Shin Eva! Eva Irasuto-shuu Volume 2 Released

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion series, an exciting new art collection, Evangelion Illustration Collection II 2017-2025, is set to be released on August 29, 2025. This book promises to be a compelling volume, using stunning illustrations to look back at the various projects and initiatives that generated immense buzz around the films, leading up to and including Shin Evangelion Gekijouban.

The Evangelion series first exploded onto the scene with the 1995 TV broadcast of Shin Seiki Evangelion, becoming a true social phenomenon. In 2007, it was reborn as the Evangelion Shin Gekijouban series, spearheaded by Anno Hideaki as planner, screenwriter, and chief director. The first three films, : Jo, : Ha, and : Kyuu, were released to massive box office success.

The fourth and final installment of the New Theatrical Edition series, Shin Evangelion Gekijouban, premiered on March 8, 2021. It achieved a final box office revenue of 10.28 billion yen and attracted 6.73 million viewers. The series consistently attracts new fans and continues to enjoy widespread support across various demographics.

The upcoming Evangelion Illustration Collection II 2017-2025 serves as a continuation of the 2018 release, Evangelion Illustration Collection 2007-2017. This new volume will feature over 400 vibrant color illustrations, including official visuals created for the theatrical films, eye-catching campaign illustrations that garnered significant attention, and special illustrations drawn for magazines.

Within its pages, the book guides readers through the various dynamic projects that fueled the excitement surrounding the films, from Evangelion Shin Gekijouban: Jo all the way to the concluding film, Shin Evangelion Gekijouban. It’s a fantastic opportunity to revisit the visual history of this impactful period.

A key highlight of the collection is the large-format presentation of illustrations. These include official film visuals and special campaign illustrations created by the main staff at Studio Khara, as well as works from a diverse array of unique illustrators and animators.

Adding to its appeal, the cover illustration for the collection is a brand-new piece drawn by Nishigori Atsushi, who served as the chief animation director for Shin Evangelion Gekijouban.
