Kinnikuman STATION, the popular pop-up event dedicated to the iconic anime and manga series, is making its Kansai debut at JR Kyoto Station from June 19 to June 25, 2026. The event will feature a wide array of exclusive merchandise, including limited-edition figures, apparel, and collectibles, along with a special photo and handshake opportunity with Kinnikuman himself.
Hosted at Ekimaru A la Mode JR Kyoto Station West Exit Store and organized by CCPJAPAN Co., Ltd. and Suguru Co., Ltd., this event marks the first time the Kinnikuman STATION concept has been held in the Kansai region, following previous successful runs in the Kanto and eastern Japan areas.
Background: The Legendary Series
Created by the duo Yudetamago (story by Shimada Takashi and art by Nakai Yoshinori), Kinnikuman first debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump in 1979. The story follows the clumsy, dim-witted superhero from Kinniku Planet as he rises through effort, friendship, and victory to become the strongest wrestler in the universe. The manga has sold over 77 million copies worldwide, and the original 1983 anime sparked a massive phenomenon, with the iconic “Kinkeshi” eraser figures selling more than 180 million units. A new anime series, Kinnikuman: Perfect Origin Arc, aired Season 1 from July to September 2024 and Season 2 from January to March 2025, continuing the story from the “King of Kinniku’s Succession” arc. A third season has already been announced.
