Fashion brand MAYLA, known for its tagline “raises your body temperature by 2°C,” has launched a new line of blouses inspired by Cardcaptor Sakura. The “Cardcaptor Sakura Iconic Blouse” collection draws from the designs of Sakura Kinomoto’s school uniform and magical costumes, offering two distinct models: the Rocket Beat [RD] and the Clear [WH]. Both are now available through MAYLA’s official online store.
About the Series
Cardcaptor Sakura originally serialized in Kodansha’s monthly shoujo manga magazine Nakayoshi from the June 1996 issue to the August 2000 issue. The story follows Sakura Kinomoto, who becomes a “Cardcaptor” tasked with collecting the mystical Clow Cards that threaten to bring disaster to the world. The manga was collected into 12 volumes, with a reorganized Nakayoshi 60th anniversary edition spanning 9 volumes. An anime adaptation aired on NHK from 1998 to 2000, with the first two seasons covering the “Clow Card Arc” and the third season the “Sakura Card Arc.”
In 2016, marking the series’ 20th anniversary, a new arc titled Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card began after a 16-year hiatus. It ran for 80 chapters (16 volumes) over seven and a half years before concluding. The anime celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2023, and a sequel anime for the Clear Card arc has been announced.
The “Iconic Blouse” line by MAYLA incorporates stripes inspired by Sakura’s school uniform and costume designs, resulting in a look that is both recognizable and suited for everyday wear. The two models—Rocket Beat and Clear—each feature unique charm details based on the in-series attire.
Frills reminiscent of the series’ magical aesthetic add a sense of lightness and motion, like fluttering wings. Both the Rocket Beat and Clear models come with custom-designed charms reflecting the outfits. The blouses also carry delicate embroidery: a key and logo motif representing the magic that brings a flutter to one’s heart, and the familiar incantation “Release!” stitched on the cuffs, evoking memories of the story every time it is seen. Each purchase includes one card per item.
