Voice actor Yuki Kaji took to X on June 13, 2026, to share a delightful Shinkansen encounter: “In the seat behind me on the Shinkansen, it was a wild Namikawa-san.” Kaji found himself sitting directly in front of fellow voice actor Daisuke Namikawa, a coincidence that quickly went viral.
Kaji, known for roles such as Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia and Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, and Namikawa, famous for Italy in Hetalia Axis Powers and Choso in Jujutsu Kaisen, have worked together on numerous projects—including Haikyuu!! where Kaji voices Kozume Kenma and Namikawa voices Tooru Oikawa. But sharing consecutive seats on a bullet train was an entirely new level of serendipity.

Namikawa responded with a quote post, admitting, “It’s embarrassing to be noticed first. Suddenly Kaji-kun popped up from the front seat—it was cute.” He used the affectionate nickname “Kaji-kun,” which charmed fans even more.

Fans also referenced their characters from other shared works, such as Demon Slayer (Kaji as Sabito, Namikawa as Haganetsuka) and World Trigger (Kaji as Osamu Mikumo, Namikawa as Kyosuke Tachikawa). One joked: “Sabito encountered Haganetsuka out for a walk?!”, while another imagined the unlikely formation of Mikumo with Tachikawa behind him and asked if Yūichi Nakamura was sitting next to him.
Interestingly, Namikawa once appeared as a guest on Kaji’s YouTube radio show “Kaji Radio” in July 2023. During that episode, the two discussed their profession as voice actors and remarked that they rarely get to talk one-on-one, except occasionally in passing. Little did they know they would one day bump into each other on a Shinkansen.
