Starting Friday, June 12, 2026, McDonald’s Japan will launch a limited-time Happy Set collaboration featuring The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. The promotion includes 12 collectible figures and a special picture book, available at most nationwide locations for approximately four weeks.
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is the second animated film set in the world of the Super Mario games, following the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie (which grossed over $13 billion worldwide). Both films are co-produced by Chris Meledandri of Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto of Nintendo.
In the story, twin plumbers Mario and Luigi assist Princess Peach in the Mushroom Kingdom, care for a captured Bowser, and solve various troubles. They later meet a new partner, Yoshi, and—sparked by Peach’s birthday party—embark on a space adventure to protect Rosalina from Bowser Jr.’s evil ambitions.
The Happy Set lineup is split into waves. The first wave (June 12–18) includes figures of Mario, Yoshi, Toad, Frog Luigi, Bowser Jr., Rosalina, and Birdo. The second wave (June 19–25) features Toad, Princess Peach, Bowser, Fire Mario, Wonder Bowser Jr., and Luma. From June 26 onward, the third wave will offer one random figure from the full set of 12.
In addition, a special picture book titled Mario no Daibōken (Mario’s Great Adventure) will be sold concurrently as part of the Hon no Happy Set. The book introduces The Super Mario Galaxy Movie and revisits the brotherly growth story from The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023). It also includes mazes, search-and-find games, and other activities.
Furthermore, a QR code printed on the toy box and inside the book unlocks digital content featuring Super Mario characters and elements from the new movie.
