
TV anime Kusuriya no Hitorigoto (The Apothecary Diaries) has teamed up with CooperVision Japan, the Japanese subsidiary of the global soft contact lens leader CooperVision, to produce an educational booklet titled “Maomao no Me no Komari goto Chōsa – Maomao to Issho ni Kinshi no Nazo o Tokiakasō” (Maomao’s Eye Troubles Investigation – Solve the Mystery of Myopia with Maomao). The booklet aims to help parents and children learn about the mechanisms of myopia (nearsightedness) and key prevention tips in a fun, family-friendly way.

“Maomao no Me no Komari goto Chōsa – Maomao to Issho ni Kinshi no Nazo o Tokiakasō”
The 12-page, A4 full-color booklet uses quizzes and illustrations to explain how myopia develops in children, common signs to watch for, important precautions, and treatment options to slow its progression. It features characters from the anime, including Maomao and Jinshi, making the information engaging for young readers.
Distribution and Availability

Printed copies of the booklet will be distributed free of charge at select eye clinics, elementary schools, and cram schools. CooperVision Japan will also hand out the booklet at the family-friendly event “Asobi Manabi Kagaku Lab” (Play・Learn・Science Lab) on July 19, 2026. Additionally, a digital version is available for a limited time on the CooperVision Japan website until September 16, 2026.

About Kusuriya no Hitorigoto
The original light novel series by Natsu Hyūga with illustrations by Touko Shino has sold over 45 million copies worldwide. The TV anime adaptation’s first season aired from October 2023, followed by a second season from January to July 2025. The series celebrated its second broadcast anniversary on October 22, 2025. A third season is scheduled as a split two-cour beginning in October 2026, and a theatrical film is slated for December 2026.
