New details have been revealed for the anime adaptation of Fujita Naoki’s manga BEAT＆MOTION. The series will be produced by MAPPA and streamed worldwide exclusively on Netflix in 2027. Main cast members Umeda Shuichiro and Gomasuri Aya have also been confirmed.
BEAT＆MOTION originally won the grand prize in Shueisha’s MILLION TAG contest for discovering new manga artists. It was serialized on Shonen Jump+ from February 2023 to January 2025, and compiled into six volumes.
The story centers on music and animation. Hirayama Tatsuhiko, a young man who gave up his dream of becoming an animator, meets Kashiwagi Niko, a singer-songwriter who pursues her dream without hesitation. Together they stimulate each other’s talents and chase after creative expression.
The anime is directed by Komada Yuki, with series composition and script by Morie Misaki, and character design and chief animation direction by Aoki Kazuki. Additional staff includes chief animation director Oosawa Mina, assistant director Takizawa Izumi, episode director chief Soga Megumi, art director Sakamoto Haruna, color design Nishida Minori, CGI producer Taniwa Yuusuke, 3DCG directors Tsushima Sayaka and Ishida Tamaki, photography director Yagi Madoka, editor Yoshii Takehito, script supervisor and concept design Itamura Tomoyuki, costume stylist Ishibashi Banri (dexi), sound director Nakura Yasushi, sound production dugout, and animation producer Ogawa Takahiro. The production is by MAPPA.

Synopsis
Music and animation. Young people with different dreams meet, clash, and yet unleash each other’s talents, pursuing expressions that only they can create.
