A new handheld fan inspired by the very first Tamagotchi is set to hit stores this summer. The “Tamagotchi Handy Fan” recreates the iconic design of the original digital pet that sparked a nationwide craze in the 1990s, blending nostalgia with practical cooling.
The Tamagotchi franchise began on November 23, 1996, with the concept of a “portable digital pet.” It became a social phenomenon in Japan and later expanded worldwide. As of March 2026, cumulative global shipments have exceeded 103 million units. The latest model, “Tamagotchi Paradise,” launched in July 2025 and continues to be loved by fans both in Japan and abroad.
The new handheld fan captures the look and feel of the original Tamagotchi, with a playful shape and color scheme that evoke fond memories. The air outlet is located at the top of the unit, and the fan offers three adjustable wind speeds. It comes with a strap and a stand, making it easy to carry around or place on a desk or vanity table. Despite its compact size, the fan can run continuously for up to approximately six hours on a full charge.
Customization is also a key feature. The main top panel can be decorated with the included set of four arrangement stickers, allowing users to personalize the fan to their liking.
