TV anime “Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e” (Classroom of the Elite) has announced the production of its sequel, “Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e 5th Season”. To commemorate the announcement, a newly drawn anime visual has been released.
The announcement comes as the 4th Season, titled “4th Season 2-nensei-hen 1-gakki”, concluded its broadcast today. The turbulent uninhabited island survival test has come to a close, setting the stage for the next chapter.
The series is based on the light novel by Kinuasa Akira, published under MF Bunko J, with cumulative series sales (including e-books) exceeding 11.6 million copies. It depicts the story of Kiyotaka Ayanokouji and his classmates at the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing High School, a school that operates on a strict meritocracy where only top-performing students receive favorable treatment. Ayanokouji is assigned to Class D, a group of problem children, and the story follows their struggles.
The TV anime is produced by Lerche. The first season aired from July to September 2017, followed by the 2nd Season from July to September 2022, and the 3rd Season from January to March 2024. The 4th Season, directed by Noriyuki Nomi, began in April 2026 and depicted the second-year school life of Ayanokouji and his classmates.
Now, the 5th Season has been greenlit. More details are expected to follow.
