The summer 2026 anime Sekai Saikyou no Kouei ~Meikyuu Koku no Shinjin Tansakusha~ has released the synopsis and preview cuts for its first episode, titled “Meikyuu Koku no Shinjin Tansakusha” (The Labyrinth Country’s Newcomer Explorer), which begins airing on July 5, 2026.
Based on the light novel series by Toowa with illustrations by Kazakana Kazakana, published under Kadokawa Books, Sekai Saikyou no Kouei is an isekai adventure story. It follows protagonist Arito, who reincarnates into a world known as the “Labyrinth Country” and takes on the mysterious support class “Rearguard”—a versatile role capable of offense, defense, and healing. Alongside a cast of unique heroines, Arito climbs the ranks of the labyrinth country. The series has sold over 2.6 million copies in print, including the popular manga adaptation by Rikizou.
The story begins when corporate slave Arito (real name: Arito Ushirobe) is involved in an accident and reincarnates into the Labyrinth Country. There he becomes a labyrinth explorer and is assigned the unprecedented class “Rearguard,” a versatile support role. Together with a mysterious demi-human mercenary girl, his former beautiful boss, and other colorful companions, Arito rises through the ranks.
Directed by Yanase Yuuki, the anime is produced by MAHO FILM. The cast includes Matsuoka Yoshitsugu as Arito, Koga Aoi as Teresa, Nakamura Sakura as Kyoka, Ishikawa Yui as Elitia, Hayami Saori as Suzuna, Hondo Kaede as Misaki, Takao Kanon as Madoka, and Aisaka Yuuka as Melissa.
Episode 1 Synopsis: “Meikyuu Koku no Shinjin Tansakusha”
Arito Ushirobe wakes up in a strange space where people are lined up in queues. A guide girl hands him a card called an “Explorer’s License.” “—Welcome to the Labyrinth Country.”
Thus, as a new explorer in the Labyrinth Country, Arito teams up with a lizardman female mercenary named Teresa to challenge the first dungeon, the “Dawn Fields.” The class he has been assigned, “Rearguard,” is an unprecedented and unknown power—. The tale of the strongest support class, strengthening bonds and power, begins.
The first episode of Sekai Saikyou no Kouei ~Meikyuu Koku no Shinjin Tansakusha~ will air on July 5 (Sunday) on TOKYO MX, BS11, and Sun TV.
