Summer 2026 anime Honoo no Toukyuujo Dodji Danko has released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, titled “Honoo no Toukyuujo! Ichigeki Danko!” The episode is set to begin airing on July 6, 2026 (Monday).
Honoo no Toukyuujo Dodji Danko is the official sequel to the massively popular 1990s series Honoo no Toukyuuji Dodji Danpei. Based on the manga by Koshitate Tetsuhiro serialized in Shogakukan’s Weekly CoroCoro Comic, the anime follows Ichigeki Danko, the daughter of Ichigeki Danpei, who inherits his fiery soul. The story ushers in a new chapter of “Toukyu” – the ultimate fighting ball sport that once created countless legends and captivated audiences.
Directed by Hiroshi Ikehata, the animation is produced by CUE. The lead role of Ichigeki Danko is voiced by Nakayama Manaka in her first leading role. The cast includes Maeda Kaori as Kobutsu Chinko, Sekine Akira as Ebukuro Mochiko, Daichi You as Susan Cannon, and Shinohara Yuu as Otohana Hanai, among others from the Kyuukawa Toukyu Club. A total of 30 voice actors from rival teams also join the production. Narration and young Danpei are voiced by Hidaka Noriko (with the “taka” character being the ladder-style “taka”), adult Danpei by Konishi Katsuyuki, and Chinko by Inada Tetsu.
Episode 1 Synopsis
“Toukyu” – the ultimate fighting ball sport where players infuse their burning souls into the ball and clash. Once, the “Honoo no Toukyuuji” Ichigeki Danpei took the toukyu world by storm. Now, over 30 years later, his daughter Danko is about to build a new legend…
Due to a series of injuries during Danpei’s era, the toukyu club at Kyuukawa Elementary School (now Kyuukawa Elementary and Junior High School) was disbanded. Danko, along with her childhood friend Chinko, pleads with the principal to revive the club, but is flatly refused.
But Danko is not one to give up easily. She sets out to recruit members and meets a colorful group of teammates: Mochiko, whose soft body makes her popular with boys; Suzy, a returnee and all-around sports prodigy; and Hanai, a cool girl who wields the latest technology.
