Sanrio Shop is celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2026 with a special lineup of new merchandise. Under the theme “55 Years of Sanrio Shops ~ Ribbon-Connecting Gift Story ~”, the brand aims to deliver the excitement of shopping that has been cherished for over five decades. The first wave, the “Mini Sanrio Series”, launches on July 15, 2026, at Sanrio directly managed stores, department store Sanrio corners, and the Sanrio Online Shop, among others.
Mini Sanrio Series
The Mini Sanrio Series brings the world of Sanrio Shop to life in miniature form. Items include a Mascot Holder (6 items, each 2,200 yen) featuring characters in the same apron as Sanrio Shop staff, a Secret Mini Stationery Magnet (8 types, each 880 yen) that looks like real stationery, a Collection Display Shelf (3,498 yen) for arranging items like a store, and a Register Basket-Style Small Container (792 yen) for storing stationery and small items.
Additional items include Shop Bag-Style Pouch (6 items, each 1,650 yen) using past Sanrio Shop bag designs, Secret Long Hair Clip-Style Mini Hair Clip (8 types, each 693 yen), Secret Lunch Box-Style Mini Container (10 types, each 792 yen), Mini Mascot Holder-Style Mini Charm (6 items, each 990 yen) with flocked finish, Secret Vinyl Wallet-Style Mini Mirror (6 types, each 693 yen) with clear pocket, and Secret 3D Keychain-Style Mini Charm (8 types, each 792 yen). A total of 25 items are available.
Gyaru Mori MAX Design Series
To commemorate the 55th anniversary, the Gyaru Mori MAX Design Series (19 items) launches on July 23, 2026. This series revives the vibrant, glittery design trend popular around the year 2000, featuring items reminiscent of shop bags from that era, allowing fans to enjoy nostalgic memories.
Lapping Paper Design Series
The Lapping Paper Design Series (19 items) focuses on the theme of “gift,” with wrapping paper-style designs and 55th anniversary logo charms. Items include a Plushie (3,696 yen), Mascot Holder (10 types, each 2,596 yen), and Tote Bag (2,200 yen).
Choose Plushie & Gift Can Case
The Choose Plushie & Gift Can Case (2 types, each 3,993 yen) allows customers to select one plushie from 8 characters, one can case from 4 designs, and one card from 8 types to create their own custom set.
In-Store Event and Purchase Bonuses
From July 23 to August 23, 2026, nine Sanrio Shop locations will host the “Sanrio Shop 55th Anniversary: Time Slip to Heisei?! Vivitix Theme Store.” The stores will feature themed decorations and photo spots where visitors can experience Heisei-era gyaru culture, with items like flip phones and long nails. Scanning a QR code at the photo spot will also provide a digital gyaru makeup experience using TikTok effects.
Purchase bonuses are also available at Sanrio directly managed stores, department store Sanrio corners, and the Sanrio Online Shop. From July 23, customers spending 1,100 yen or more (tax included) will receive a ribbon sticker, and from August 5, those spending 3,300 yen or more will receive a paper bag, both while supplies last.
Various other projects are planned to celebrate Sanrio Shop’s 55th anniversary.
