Sanrio is bringing a new wave of fan enthusiasm to capsule toy machines with the “Acrylic Oshi Penlight.” These palm-sized lights feature beloved Sanrio characters and are designed to let fans show their support anytime, anywhere. The penlights will roll out to capsule toy corners across Japan from late July 2026.
Sanrio Character Grand Prix 2026 Results
The 2026 Sanrio Character Grand Prix saw Pompompurin take the top spot, followed by Cinnamoroll in second place. Pochacco came in third, Kuromi fourth, and Hello Kitty fifth. These long-beloved characters continue to capture the hearts of fans worldwide.
The new penlight features a simple switch: flip it on, and the character artwork lights up in a cute glow. A ball chain makes it easy to attach to bags or keyrings, and the compact size fits in the palm of your hand—perfect for carrying your “oshi” (favorite character) pride wherever you go.
There are five designs in total, each representing a different Sanrio character.
Hello Kitty
Her real name is Kitty White. Born in the suburbs of London, England, she stands as tall as five apples and weighs as much as three. A bright and kind-hearted girl, Hello Kitty is a timeless icon of friendship.
My Melody
An honest and cheerful girl who cares deeply for her little brother. Her treasured possession is a cute hood made by her grandmother. She loves baking cookies with her mother.
Cinnamoroll
A white puppy boy born on a cloud far away in the sky. One day, he floated down and was discovered by the big sister at Café Cinnamon, who took him in. His tail curls like a cinnamon roll, earning him the name “Cinnamon.”
Pompompurin
A golden retriever boy with a trademark dark brown beret. He’s a laid-back fellow whose favorite word is “going out” and least favorite is “staying home.”
Hangyodon
A half-fish man born in China. He’s great at making people laugh, but deep down he’s a lonely romantic. He always dreams of being a hero, but things never quite go his way. His best friend is the octopus Sayuri-chan.
