A spectacular fusion of two Japanese pop culture titans has arrived: the Evangelion Unit-01 “G” Awakened Form, a new figure from the Godzilla vs Evangelion collaboration, is now available for pre-order. The figure imagines what would happen if Unit-01 were injected with Godzilla’s G-cells, resulting in a terrifying hybrid that blends the mechanical Evangelion with the biological King of the Monsters.
Two Legends Collide
Godzilla, Toho’s iconic giant monster, has starred in 30 films since his debut in 1954. In recent years, the franchise saw a major boost from Shin Godzilla (2016), directed by Evangelion creator Hideaki Anno, and the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One (2023). The Evangelion series began with the 1995 TV anime Neon Genesis Evangelion, following young pilots in humanoid weapons called Evangelions as they battle mysterious Angels. The Rebuild of Evangelion film series concluded in 2021 with Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time.
Design and Detailing
This is the first time the “G” Awakened Form has been fully sculpted as a three-dimensional figure, produced with complete cooperation from Explus. The design retains Unit-01’s silhouette while adding Godzilla-like features: a black body surface, large dorsal fins with gradient coloring, and a long tail extending from the back. The contrasting textures—mechanical for Evangelion, organic for Godzilla—are faithfully recreated.
The figure combines Unit-01’s signature purple with Godzilla’s black. The dorsal fins are painted with a gradient to evoke a biological feel, and the chest core is finished in metallic red.
Articulation and Accessories
Despite the detailed sculpt, the figure offers a wide range of motion across the body, allowing dynamic poses such as roaring or a low-center-of-gravity stance. An optional radiation heat ray effect part is included, sculpted specifically to match the “G” Awakened Form’s image based on various reference materials.
Pre-Order and Specifications
Pre-orders for the S.H.MonsterArts Evangelion Unit-01 “G” Awakened Form began on July 10, 2026 (Friday) at 16:00 JST. The figure is scheduled to ship in December 2026.
