The manga Shin Tennis no Oujisama is finally approaching its final chapter. Author Konomi Takeshi has been sharing the progress of the final manuscript on his X (formerly Twitter) account, and the countdown to completion has become a hot topic among fans.
Shin Tennis no Oujisama is the sequel to Tennis no Oujisama (The Prince of Tennis), which began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump (Shueisha) in 1999. The series follows genius middle schooler Echizen Ryoma as he joins the Seishun Academy tennis club, engaging in intense matches and comedic moments with a colorful cast of friends and rivals.
On July 13, 2026, Konomi posted an image of the manuscript with the caption: “Writing the final chapter… The incredibly strong people who have supported Shin Tennis all along. Without them, the sequel would never have been this exciting.” The photo showed a page marked “あと9枚…” (9 pages left).

Fans quickly flooded the comments with encouragement and bittersweet feelings. Reactions included: “Konomi-sensei, thank you for your hard work. I’m cheering for the manuscript!”, “It’s going to be so sad not seeing the brave figures of the leaders and Oni anymore…”, “I had so much fun supporting them in Shin Tennis no Oujisama!! Shin Tennis no Oujisama will conclude in the September 2026 issue of Jump SQ., which goes on sale on August 4, 2026. Additionally, the anime Shin Tennis no Oujisama U-17 WORLD CUP 決勝メンバー決定戦 is scheduled to air in fall 2026. The series is also celebrating its 25th anniversary with various projects planned through the end of December 2027.
