Get Ready! A Second Season of Black Clover is Officially Announced!

Exciting news just dropped for fans of the magical action series **Black Clover**! During the Crunchyroll Industry Panel at Anime Expo 2025 this past Saturday, it was officially announced that a second season of the popular anime is in the works. To celebrate the big reveal, attendees got a look at a special “kick off” visual and an announcement promotional video.

About the Original Story

The **Black Clover** anime is based on the hit fantasy action manga by Yuuki Tabata. The manga first began its serialization journey in Weekly Shounen Jump back in February 2015. Before that, a one-shot version of the story appeared in Shounen Jump NEXT! in May 2014. More recently, the manga made the switch to the pages of Jump GIGA magazine, starting from December 2023. Shueisha released the 36th volume of the manga in Japan in February 2024. For international readers, VIZ Media licensed the manga for English release in June 2016 and published the 36th volume on January 7.

Looking Back at the Anime Journey So Far

The first anime season of **Black Clover** was produced by Studio Pierrot and premiered in Fall 2017. This initial run was quite extensive, spanning a total of 170 episodes. Crunchyroll streamed the series to fans, providing both subtitles and later an English dub. The world of **Black Clover** also expanded with an anime movie, titled **Black Clover: Mahou Tei no Ken**, which translates to Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King. This film opened in Japan in June 2023.
