Tokushima Prefecture’s 2026 Awa Odori festival will feature two anime works from animation studio ufotable: the currently re-airing television series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and the upcoming theatrical anime Mahoutsukai no Yoru (Witch on the Holy Night). The announcement has already sparked excitement on social media.
Demon Slayer and Mahoutsukai no Yoru Join 2026 Awa Odori
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is based on the manga by Gotouge Koyoharu, published by Shueisha’s Jump Comics with over 150 million copies in circulation. The story follows Kamado Tanjiro, a boy whose family is killed by demons and whose sister Nezuko is turned into a demon. He joins the Demon Slayer Corps to fight demons and find a cure. The anime, produced by ufotable, began with the television series in April 2019 and continued with the Hashira Training Arc in 2024. The Infinity Castle Arc is being released as a trilogy of films, with the first chapter, ‘Akaza Returns,’ released on July 18, 2025. A full re-airing of the entire series started on April 5, 2026, airing every Sunday at 9:30 AM.
Mahoutsukai no Yoru is based on the visual novel developed and released by TYPE-MOON for PC in 2012. The scenario was written by Nasu Kinoko, creator of Kara no Kyoukai and the Fate series, with graphics by Koyama Hirokazu, a longtime TYPE-MOON artist. The theatrical anime is produced by ufotable, which has previously handled TYPE-MOON adaptations such as Kara no Kyoukai and Fate/stay night [Heaven’s Feel]. The film is scheduled for release on November 20, 2026.
Now, ufotable has confirmed that both works will participate in the 2026 Awa Odori in Tokushima. To commemorate, the studio has released newly drawn posters for each work.

Voice Actors Shimono Hiro and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu to Perform
For Demon Slayer, the ‘Kimetsu Ren’ group will be formed again this year. On August 14 (Friday), a dance performance will be held at the venue. Voice actors Shimono Hiro (Zenitsu Agatsuma) and Matsuoka Yoshitsugu (Inosuke Hashibira) will participate in ‘Kimetsu Ren 2026.’ Additionally, the following ‘mini corps members’ will appear: Kamado Tanjiro, Kamado Nezuko, Agatsuma Zenitsu, Hashibira Inosuke, Tomioka Giyu, and Kocho Shinobu.
Stamp Rally and Goods
To celebrate the participation of both works, a stamp rally will be held featuring past Awa Odori illustrations from TYPE-MOON × ufotable works (including Kara no Kyoukai) and Demon Slayer. At the venue, goods and drinks with this year’s Awa Odori illustrations will be sold, with novelties included.
