The TV anime Dekin no Mogura has just released the synopsis and advance scene cuts for its first episode, titled “Tonai Boujo nite” (Somewhere in Tokyo), which is set to begin broadcasting on July 7, 2025.
Dekin no Mogura is a mysterious and comedic series about the strange occurrences of “this world,” where “people” and “spirits” interact, serialized in Kodansha’s “Morning” magazine by Eguchi Natsumi, known for Hoouzuki no Reitetsu.
The anime adaptation is directed by Ishiodori Hiroshi and produced by Brains Base. The cast features Nakamura Yuuichi as Mogura (also known as Hyakurou Momoki), Taiga Genki as Makikuri Akira, Fujii Yukiyo as Kirihara Yaeko, alongside Fujita Akane, Murase Ayumu, Takeuchi Shunsuke, Tanezaki Atsumi, Toyosaki Aki, and Mafia Kajita.
Mogura, a self-proclaimed immortal, is banned from the afterlife for some reason. He aims to return there by collecting “lights” possessed by ghosts into his lantern. It seems that encountering him allows one to see strange things. The encounter between this Mogura and college students Makikuri and Kirihara marks the beginning of a truly “immortal-able” tale.
Episode 1 “Tonai Boujo nite” Synopsis
Makikuri Akira and Kirihara Yaeko witness a man they pass on the street get hit directly on the head by a dictionary and collapse, bleeding.
For some reason, the man refuses their help or an ambulance and flees with agility that doesn’t seem possible for an injured person.
The man, who introduces himself as “Mogura,” says something bizarre: “I won’t die because I’ve been banned from the afterlife.”
Episode 1 of the summer anime Dekin no Mogura, “Tonai Boujo nite,” will sequentially air starting July 7 (Monday) at 22:00 on TOKYO MX, BS11, and Sun TV.
