Poko a Pokemon First Real-Life Event Brings Underwater Town to Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse

For the first time ever, the world of Poko a Pokemon is stepping out of the screen and into the real world. From August 6 to 9, 2026, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will host the inaugural real-life event for the game: “Real ‘PokoPoke’ Experience! ‘Bukubuku Umizoko no Machi’ in Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse.”

Expansion Pass Brings a New Underwater Town

The event celebrates the release of the first paid expansion pass for Poko a Pokemon on Nintendo Switch 2, titled Poko a Pokemon Expansion Pass Volume 1: “Bukubuku Umizoko no Machi” (Bubbly Underwater Town), which launched on August 5, 2026. This new content lets players build and enjoy a slower-paced life in an aquatic-themed town, meeting new Pokemon along the way.

Opening Ceremony with Totodile, Mudkip, and Popplio

A media preview event was held on August 5, featuring the three new Pokemon that appear in the underwater town: Wani-no-ko (Totodile), Mizugorou (Mudkip), and Ashimari (Popplio). The trio appeared on site, visibly excited to enter the event area. With the MC’s countdown of “3, 2, 1 – Gate Open!” members of the “Pokemon Group Program” held up their Pokedex to the gate, triggering in-game-style music as the PokoPoke area gate swung open. The crowd’s energy peaked as the first real-life event officially began.

The gate itself recreates the game’s scenery, standing tall against the summer Yokohama skyline. Passing through it feels like stepping directly into the world of Bukubuku Umizoko no Machi.

Hands-On Habitat Creation

In Poko a Pokemon, players can create “habitats” for Pokemon by arranging blocks of grass, rock, and other materials in specific quantities. At the event, visitors can try this habitat-building experience for themselves. By combining blocks, they can attract the new Pokemon from the underwater town.

Deep Sea Photo Spot

A standout attraction at the center of the venue is the “Deep Sea Sparkle Photo Spot,” a dome-shaped photo area where visitors can take pictures alongside Pokemon in an underwater setting. When the camera flash goes off, four Pokemon appear: Chinchou, Lanturn, Frillish (male form), and Frillish (female form), making for a memorable group photo.
