About Dandadan
Dandadan is an occult battle and coming-of-age story based on the manga by Tatsuyuki Yukinobu, which is serialized on Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+” manga app and has exceeded 10 million copies in circulation. It follows Momo, a high school girl from a family of spirit mediums, and Okarun, her classmate and occult enthusiast. After encountering overwhelmingly bizarre phenomena beyond comprehension, they gain hidden powers and cursed abilities. They challenge the encroaching strange occurrences while also getting caught up in a fated romance.
The TV anime features Wakayama Shion as Ayase Momo, also known as Momo, and Hanae Natsuki as Takakura Ken, also known as Okarun. Season 1 aired from October to December 2024 and gained significant popularity. For Season 2, Abel Gongora joins Yamashiro Fuuga as director, with animation production continuing to be handled by Science SARU.
Episode 13 Recap
In the previous episode, it was revealed that the true identity of the “Great Serpent” that the Kitou family had worshipped for many years was the “Giant Human-Eating Earthworm UMA,” the Mongolian Death Worm. This revelation sparked reactions on social media like “It was a worm?! LOL” and “They’ve been worshipping a worm this whole time w”.
Episode 14: The Threat of the Evil Eye
In episode 14, Okarun’s behavior becomes strange after being bathed in a mysterious light. Hearing his words as he attempts to end his own life, something reminds Jiji of a past event: the time his own parents tried to hang themselves.
The entire cause is the Mongolian Death Worm’s “psychic waves.” However, for some reason, only Jiji is unaffected by these waves…
Realizing that only he can navigate this situation, Jiji grabs Momo, Okarun, and Taabobabaa and runs around the nest tunnel. But the Mongolian Death Worm closes in, creating a major crisis! At that moment, “someone” wearing briefs appears out of nowhere.
According to Taabobabaa, that is “Jashi.” The moment Jiji looks into the eyes of this entity, who possesses an “evil eye” that drives people mad and leads them to suicide, the entity’s past flashes into Jiji’s mind…
In the past, Jashi himself was sacrificed to the Great Serpent by the Kitou family. Afterwards, he became a vengeful spirit, watching the humans living in the place where the current Jiji’s family home stands become victims, and vowed revenge against the Kitou family.
