Pompompurin is celebrating his 30th anniversary with a nostalgic new merchandise lineup. The “Ano Koro no Pompompurin Design Series” (That Time Pompompurin Design Series) will launch on August 27, 2026, at Sanrio stores, department store Sanrio corners, and the Sanrio online shop nationwide.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of the 2026 Sanrio Character Ranking, where Pompompurin took the top spot with 7,064,737 votes—112% of last year’s total and the highest ever recorded. This marks his second consecutive win and his fifth overall victory in the annual fan poll. Cinnamoroll placed second, followed by Pochacco in third, Kuromi in fourth, and Hello Kitty in fifth.
Nostalgic Designs Recreated
The new series is based on the first wave of Pompompurin goods released in 1996. It recreates the original designs and the fluffy texture of the plush fur, offering a total of 16 everyday items. These include plush toys, mascot holders, goods featuring his friend Muffin, and bags, pouches, and towels adorned with photos of the plushies.

30th Anniversary Shop and Exclusive Items
From August 27 to September 13, 2026, a “Pompompurin 30th Anniversary Shop” will be held at 37 Sanrio stores across Japan. Among the exclusive offerings are two types of secret keyholders from the popular “Chibittomo” series: one where Pompompurin dresses up as his Team Purin friends, and another where Sanrio characters dress up as Pompompurin. Each keyholder is 946 yen and comes in all 8 varieties.

Also available are the “Secret Drawstring & Mini Tote Bag” (748 yen, all 8 types) and a “Sticker Set” (693 yen), both featuring retro designs that fans will love.

Photo Spots and Purchase Bonus
The 37 participating Sanrio stores will also feature special photo spots with large plushies and other 30th-anniversary decorations, perfect for fans who want to snap a commemorative picture.

Additionally, from August 27, customers who spend 4,400 yen or more (tax included) at the 37 stores or the Sanrio online shop will receive a “Pompompurin Pukupuku Memo” as a gift. This puffy-covered memo pad contains 60 sheets and features Pompompurin on the cover.
