Yoroi Shinden Samurai Trooper Episode 21: Ten Braves Fall, ‘My Child’ Tease Stuns Fans

Warning: This article contains spoilers for episode 21 of Yoroi Shinden Samurai Trooper.

The war against the Tenkai Realm reaches a devastating turning point in episode 21 of Yoroi Shinden Samurai Trooper, titled “Keikoku.” After the shocking conclusion of episode 20, where Ramaga (Rama Ga) intervened in the final battle and possessed Kai’s body to slaughter the Ten Braves, this week’s episode delivers the full weight of that tragedy—and then drops a bombshell in the next-episode preview that has fans reeling.

As the combined forces of the Samurai Troopers and the Ten Braves face off against the Tenkai Realm, Ramaga’s sudden attack splits the group. Possessing Kai, he cuts down Kamanosuke, Seikai Nyudo, Isanyudo, and Saizou one by one. Sasuke rushes to the scene but arrives too late, finding his comrades already lifeless. The emotional impact is immediate, with fans taking to social media to express their grief: “I can’t believe we finally got them together and now this?” and “Sasuke, please don’t die…”

The episode doesn’t let up. As the four Samurai Troopers—now without Kai—remain trapped in a different space, the fourth gate guardian Gomei is confronted by Inmei, who seeks to steal the crystal of the Four Sacred Beasts. It’s revealed that the Four Sacred Beasts were once a single entity, and Inmei’s actions are part of a larger scheme to achieve a complete form. Meanwhile, in the human world, the first-generation Samurai Troopers—voiced by the original cast including Kusao Takeshi, Sasaki Nozomu, and Nishimura Tomohiro—notice something strange: the defeated Tenkai soldiers are disappearing, an unprecedented event.

The Ten Braves had grown close to the Samurai Troopers through training, shared meals, and even a promise to perform a song together. Their deaths are made even more painful by the discovery of a music score carefully tucked away, showing they intended to keep that promise. Fans were heartbroken: “They really meant to keep that promise…” and “This is too much.”

When the four Samurai Troopers finally reunite with Sasuke, they find themselves powerless against Ramaga, who now wields the power of the fallen Ten Braves. Sasuke, alone, faces Ramaga with a desperate resolve. He tells his comrades, “If it were you, would you stop? I’m a hero too. Watch closely—this is my… our final attack!” He throws the origami shuriken given to him by a child he once saved. But Ramaga sees through the attack, and Sasuke falls as well.

Fans were already on edge, and Sasuke’s death—with a flashback of his time with the Troopers and the Ten Braves—brought many to tears. “There’s no hope left if Sasuke is gone,” one viewer wrote. The episode ends with Ramaga obtaining the Shield of Hegemony by absorbing Sasuke’s life, and Sagume appears to confront him. But just as the episode seems to conclude, the next-episode preview drops a shocking word: “my child.”

Fans immediately began speculating: “Is Kai Sagume’s child?” “Are they married?” The preview suggests that Kai’s birth secret will finally be revealed in the next episode, airing September 8.
