The beloved manga series COJI-COJI, celebrating its 30th anniversary since its original publication, is now collaborating with “Koufuudou,” the Japanese confectionery brand of Kakiyasu Honten. This exciting collaboration brings forth the charming “Koji-Koji Manjuu,” featuring four delightful illustrations of the adorable character. These special treats will be available starting August 9, 2025, at approximately 140 Koufuudou stores.
A Glimpse into the World of COJI-COJI and the Collaboration Treats
COJI-COJI is a whimsical manga created by Sakura Momoko, also widely known for her hit series Chibi Maruko-chan. The protagonist, Koji-Koji, is a mysterious child from space whose gender and age are unknown. Koji-Koji lives a carefree life in Fairytale Land alongside a cast of unique companions. As you turn the pages, Koji-Koji’s nonsensical actions and dialogues leap out, sometimes bringing a sense of absurdity, sometimes profound truths, and always a deep sense of healing. The series has captivated many with its fairytale-like world, profound words that can startle even adults, and its distinct brand of nonsensical humor.
This collaboration introduces the “Koji-Koji Manjuu,” a delightful confection based on Koufuudou’s traditional jooyou manjuu, adorned with charming illustrations of Koji-Koji’s ever-changing expressions.
The “Koji-Koji Manjuu” comes with a specially designed wrapper featuring an original illustration of Koji-Koji dressed as a Koufuudou wagashi craftsman. These delightful treats are perfect for an afternoon snack at home, a thoughtful souvenir when visiting family, or a charming gift. In addition, Koufuudou is also releasing a summer-limited package for their “MARUKO&COJICOJI Dorayaki,” a collaborative product based on Sakura Momoko’s popular picture book series, Ehonn Maruko Jicchi (which can be translated as Picture Book: Maruko and Coji-Coji). This seasonal package features a refreshing, summery illustration of Maruko and Koji-Koji enjoying a day at the beach. The dorayaki itself is specially branded with adorable imprints of both Maruko and Koji-Koji.
