The TV anime Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. Season 2 (The Detective Is Already Dead. Season 2) will begin broadcasting on October 7, 2026. Along with the announcement, the third promotional video has been released, featuring partial previews of the opening theme “Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo” by Kokoro Ume and the ending theme “Hakuchuumu” by Kagura Nana. Additionally, new cast members Komiyama Akari and Okamoto Nobuhiko have been revealed.
The anime is based on the light novel series by Nigo Juu, which won the grand prize at the 15th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award. The first season aired from July to September 2021. The story follows Kimizuka Kimihiko, a young man with a tendency to get caught up in trouble, who becomes the assistant to the beautiful detective Siesta. After Siesta’s death, he returns to a normal student life, but when a client appears, he is drawn back into action.
Season 2 brings back the main staff from the first season, including director Kurihara Manabu, series composition and scriptwriter Akao Deko, character designer Itou Yousuke, and animation production by ENGI. The cast includes Nagai Arata as Kimizuka Kimihiko, Miyashita Saki as Siesta, Taketatsu Ayana as Natsunagi Nagisa, Takaoka Kanon as Saitou Yui, and Shirasawa Saho as Charlotte Arisaka Anderson. The season was originally scheduled for July but was postponed to October due to production circumstances.
The third PV, released with the broadcast date announcement, depicts the long and dazzling story leading up to the detective’s return. It also offers a first listen to the OP theme “Kono Shinzou ni Hanataba wo” by Kokoro Ume and the ED theme “Hakuchuumu” by Kagura Nana.
New cast members have also been announced: Komiyama Akari will voice Mia Whitlock, one of the “Tuners” and a “shrine maiden,” while Okamoto Nobuhiko will voice Scarlet, one of the “Tuners” and a “vampire.”
Broadcast and Streaming
The broadcast will start on October 7, 2026, every Wednesday at 22:30 on TOKYO MX and other channels. BS Nittele will air it at 24:30, and AT-X at 21:30, with repeat broadcasts on Fridays and Tuesdays. The series will also stream on dAnime Store starting October 7 at 22:00, with other platforms following on October 12. Prior to the premiere, AT-X will air all 12 episodes of the first season on October 3 from 9:00 to 15:00.
