Kadokawa announced on Wednesday that Kanzaki Shiden‘s action sci-fi light novel Black Bullet is relaunching after a 12-year hiatus.
Reboot Details
The reboot, titled Black Bullet: New World Order, will be a revised and expanded version of the original light novel. The story will cover the events of the first six original volumes through the fourth volume of New World Order, before continuing into a completely new arc in the fifth volume, which will be a fully rewritten version of the original seventh volume. The relaunch will be published over four consecutive months beginning in November 2026, with two volumes released simultaneously each month.

Kadokawa’s Dengeki Bunko label also released a promotional video for the reboot featuring voice actors Kaji Yuuki and Hidaka Rina reprising their roles as Satomi Rentarou and Aihara Enju, respectively.

Publication History
Kanzaki originally began publishing Black Bullet under the Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Ukai Saki in July 2011. Kadokawa published the seventh and latest volume in April 2014.
Yen Press licensed the light novel in English and published all seven volumes from August 2015 to September 2017.
A manga adaptation illustrated by Morinohon ran in Dengeki Maoh magazine from August 2012 to June 2014. Yen Press also licensed and released the manga in English.
Kinema Citrus and Orange adapted the light novel into a 13-episode television anime in Spring 2014. Crunchyroll simulcasted the anime with subtitles. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime in North America and released it on home video in September 2015.
Upcoming Work
Kanzaki’s new light novel, Aku no Shinzui, is scheduled for release in Spring 2027.
